Sampled on tap, April 21 & 22, 2009, in Dublin and Cork, Ireland:
A: A: The beer appeared a nice very dark, opaque black with a very nice cascade effect to it and a very nice, two finger, creamy, thick, and dense mocha head that was very well retained. As I recall most of the head was retained throughout the beer. Some nice lacing as well.
S: The aroma was heavy roasted malt, with a hint of oatmeal and coffee. Very well balanced and well done.
T: The taste is really good. A nice, good balance between the roasted malt, oatmeal and coffee. It also had only a hint of bitterness to it, but less so than Murphy's and it also had a hint of earthiness to it as well. Very well rounded.
M/D: The beer was thick, yet smooth, rich, creamy and very easy to drink. It had a very well balanced aftertaste, not too bitter, not too sweet. Honestly, I will rank this above both Guinness and Murphy's. An excellent beer and one that I will be enjoying again.

Nitro-tap at O'Neill's Bar & Restaurant, Dublin, Ireland
A: The beer is close to being jet black in color – when held up to a bright light, only traces of reddish amber are visible near the edge of the glass. It poured with a finger high creamy tan head that has superior retention properties and hardly died down.
S: Light aromas of roasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of dry, roasted malts and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light-bodied, creamy, somewhat dry, and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink, especially due to its light-bodied nature.

Tough to find these days. Great, wonderful, spectacular Irish beer. I love it anyway I can get it. Nice change from Guinness and Murphy's just cause, why not? Was my first pint in Ireland at the Shannon airport directly off the red eye flight from Boston. Instant love with this beer. Not as available, really anyway compared to Guinness or Murphy's but that is what you beer snob dweebs are pretty much into, yeah? Go out getcha some Beamish!!! (If you can find it! And let me know where in the US it was found!)
