Appearance: Poured from a 500ml can into a (non-real) pint glass in low altitude Galway, Ireland on September 18th, 2010. Pours a luscious creamy dark tan with a wonderfully creamy head and a dazzling display of rising and falling bubbles. A two finger thick head retains very well, holding itself up for three minutes. Very appealing beer; I can't wait to take a sip.
Smell: Smells of cream, toffee, a little coffee, and a little chocolate. An appealing scent, but I'm not drooling like I do with Guinness.
Taste: A simple cream opening into one note of vague roast and a relatively empty body that transitions well to an average finish. For what it is, it's well balanced, but I'd like to see more complexity of flavour and taste multiple notes of what I detect in the smell. It would be nice if the opening cream flavour were enhanced in a manner akin to Belhaven.
Mouthfeel: A bit too smooth on the palate even for its cream overtone. I tend to like my finishes a bit more dry but also more refreshing. That said, it is a successful mouthfeel for an Irish stout and I appreciate what they're trying to do.
Drinkability: Guinness draught has a definite leg up with its multiple notes and flavors, all of which are balanced better. If you're after an Irish stout, you're best off reaching for Guinness.

Ireland's finest stout, much nicer than Guinness. I could drink a dozen of these and still want more. Personally I find it more refreshing and easier to drink than the world famous Guinness. If in Ireland, I would reccomend buying one of these before Guinness, they are just as widely availible as the other legendary stout. It is famous for being slightly cheaper too. I wouldn't buy this from a can or bottle though, completely different drink.
