On-tap at Alphabet City Beer Co., New York, NY
A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high dark beige head that has good retention properties and consistently left a short head covering the surface and a coating down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of chocolate malts are present in the smell.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, but the flavors of chocolate malts are a little stronger.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink, but might seem to be one-dimensional since the only aromas and flavors are those of chocolate malts.
Serving type: on-tap

On tap.
Deep, dark brown. Milky tan head.
Nose is roast and some minor sweet chocolate.
Flavor is a smooth dance of roast, roasted malt, understated chocolate notes, and a mild earthy finish. Really a fine Irish dry stout. Mouthfeel is almost creamy. Love it.
Overall, a great surprise for the style.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear black in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and moderate cola brown highlights. The beer has a finger thick foamy tan head that reduces to a mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of chocolate malts with light aromas of roasted malts and a light amount of sweetness.
T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of chocolate malts with a light flavor of roasted malts. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of cocoa and baker's chocolate. Light amounts of roasty bitterness in the finish.
M: Just a hint heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Easy to drink and enjoyable though a bit one dimensional with just the chocolate flavors and aromas really being there.

A mild, light stout. Some balanced roasted malt; a stronger nose than mouthfeel.
Somewhere between a black ale and a stout. I'd probably prefer a bit further hops or malt, but otherwise an enjoyable brew.
