Very pale and clear. Smell is light and what you'd expect from a lager. Taste is pretty decent and smooth. Not a pilsner fan but this one is pretty good. (153 characters)

Pours a very pale straw with a giant white head. Stringy lacing. Nose is malty, faint grassy hops, grain. Ultra-light body. Crisp. Slightly sour, grainy malt, noble hops, unripe green apple nice it's ok. (203 characters)

Clear pale yellow with a finger of white head. Beer smell. Moderately creamy mouthfeel with some fresh cut grass and biscuit-like malts in the taste. Easy drinking. (167 characters)

Look: Great white fluffy head sticks around much longer than I was expecting. Light yellowish. Good Carbonation.

Smell: Biscuity. Light hops come off a little tin-y (probably because this was poured from a 11.2 ounce can). Smells very much as a Pilsner should, just a little off.

Taste: Very bready. Weird bitter finish. Tin is still there. meh.

Feel: I actually really like the body on this one. A little bigger than other Pils I've had. pretty creamy.

Overall: Pretty Okay. Nearly good. The metallic undertones are unpleasant. No thumbs up or down, only shoulders shrugged in indifference. (595 characters)

Served cold from 660ml bottle into Veltins pilsner mug.

L) Pale golden, clear, lots of bubbles. Thin bubbly white head.

S) Slightly sour bready pilsner malt.

T) Kinda flat, with hints of bready pilsner malt. Subtle hop bitterness. Doesn't have either of the notable classic pilsner characteristics to any large degree. Has a watery / metallic edge. Just drunk a Pilsner Urquell, so maybe this seems a bit flavourless in comparison.

F) Light and refreshing, at least there is no long bitter aftertaste to detract from the refreshment.

O) Subtly flavoured pilsner. Mid range on quality, but a decent price for a 660ml bottle, so overall I am satisfied. (661 characters)

Poured a fluffy white 2-finger head of foam with sticky lace left over; yellow and translucent color; a lot of carbonation. Smelled like metallic malt and a bit of funk; going in was sweet malt, followed by a malty-dry, yet slightly flowery and peppery aftertaste; some bitterness lingered. My senses picked up a lighter bodied carbonated and quaffable brew with a crispness that was satisfying. If offered, I'd imbibe. It is a standard international German beer with not a lot to say about it, but better than BMC in my opinion. (531 characters)

Very good tasting and very smooth going down. Very mild beer with no after taste. For your average "middle of the road" brew in my opinion a very formidable beer. (163 characters)

Sampling right now on 5/12/15 but had this before, though it has been several years. Comes in a 330ml (11.2 ounce bottle). Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a vintage "WARSTEINER" 0.2l flute glass.

Brew pours a straw-yellow in color with a thin white foamy head that sticks around for a good while. Some spotty sheet lacing is seen when sipped. The aroma is of some yeast and grass for the most part. The taste is pretty much the same with a touch of sweetness that has a slightly dry bitter finish but doesn't last long. Lighter bodied with lots of carbonation as seen by the amount of bubbles rising from the sides and bottom of the glass. Overall, it was OK but nothing really special. (726 characters)

I had it before and was not expecting much but this is actually a decent macro Pils. The metallic touch feels a bit artificial though, like it happens with the Pilsner Urquell and other beers (i guess the hop extracts has something to do with it). (247 characters)

*transferred from previous notes 1/22/2014*
12 oz bottle poured into a 6oz english tulip. Yeast is the primary aroma emanating from this one. Some minor floral and grassy notes appear faintly along with (maybe) some black pepper traces - but the yeast dominates. It pours a straw bubbly yellow with a soft whipped-egg-white foamy head. The taste is mellow sweet with some very light, light souring. Not much bitterness, although what’s there does come through at the finish. It’s a light bodied, dry, thin beer with active carbonation. On the tongue, some lemon citrus comes through initially which slips into a weak floral hoppy finish which then disappears quickly - mostly a clean finish. (695 characters)

The beer up front offers grassy hops, with some honey sweetness and breadiness. There's a touch of metallic flavor with some bitterness that lingers throughout.

A decent traditional German pilsner. (198 characters)

Straw appearance with a bubbly, white head. Grassy hops are prominent in the aroma with some malt in the background. Flavor has a good balance of malt and hops. It has a slight hint of bitterness on the finish. Very appealing. Medium mouthfeel. Smooth, semi-dry finish. Overall, This is a wonderful beer! Easy going. I'll definitely drink this one again.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Clear yellow with a thick white head and heavy lacing on the glass.

Smell: Hops and grassy notes.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth light bodied. Taste of light hops with a sweet upfront taste and mild bitter throughout.

Overall: Not bad at all. Good German brew. (309 characters)

Look: Looks great! Has a great foam and body.

Smell: Nothing very odd here. Smells like any other beer with nothing particularly complex.

Taste: The taste comes off initially sweet... But then it hits you with sour. Not bitter. Sour.

Feel: Once again, I can't really detect anything particularly special about this. It feels like a Pilsner should

Overall, I'd say this is a run-of-the-pilsner, but the taste is just not good. I'm not fond of it. (450 characters)

11.2 oz. bottle from Cost Plus. Amber in color with a small white head. Floral noble hop bitterness up front with a sweet finish of bread malt and a bit of lemon. Good amount of flavor. Not watery. Bitterness blends perfectly to offset the sweetness. Finish is crisp and refreshing. A very drinkable and satisfying pilsener. (324 characters)

Poured from bottle to pint glass.

Look: Pours a light clear yellow with a nice white head that reduces to lacing. Plenty of visible carbonation.

Smell: Smells equally balanced between malt and hops, with slight undertones of fruity aroma.

Taste:Pretty much the same as the smell. Although slightly disappointing. There is not much flavor going on at all.

Feel: Very crisp from the nice amount of carbonation. Somewhat dry and thin.

Overall: Refreshing, and very smooth. Slightly watered down tasting, but hey, still one I'd pick up to try again months from now. Average. (576 characters)

Picked this up in a clearance/discount/weird section of my local craft beer/wine store.

I didn't know what to expect. I wasnt sure if it was a Euro adjunct or a genuine German Pilsner. It smells like an adjunct lager. Turns out it's a real Pilsner and it pretty darn refreshing.

It is kind of like a classic adjunct lager but with real hop flavors and a good malt backbone. Very nice. I would happily have this in my fridge all the time.
Not sure if I'll ever find this again, though.

It was nice knowing you, Warsteiner. I'll meet up with you again if I ever get the Deutchland. (582 characters)

I've had this several times, and like it each time. It's a mild malt and undertone of hops fused well with light roast flavor. There's many up and down opinions of this brew. My advice is to get a 6 pack and try it. Also try it with some good pretzels...Or my favorite pairing for this, pork n kruat. (300 characters)

Pale yellow with a nice head that reduces to lacing. Not very pungent, decent light smell of well blended hops and malt. Very European in taste, smell, and in look. Imported. Good beer. I will session with this beer. I had it with pretzels and they went well together. (273 characters)

Purchased at the LCBO as a single. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a high head that is gone in 30sec. Clear light gold

S- Has that Heineken scent.

T- There's that Heineken again. Similar recipe. A bit lighter though. Has the hops it needs and a decent malt back bone. Good overall blend.

M- A touch creamier then Heineken. which is a refreshing twist.

O- A good beer. Very similar style to Heineken but expected from European beers of this style.

Food Pairing

This pretty good beer is a Heineken clone so it pairs well with..... anything a Heineken goes well with which is a lot

DATE TASTED: October 25, 2014... GLASSWARE: Warsteiner pokal... OCCASION: PSU/OSU white out again... APPEARANCE: champagne-like effervescence; crystal clear and golden yellow; vast, foamy white three-finger head; lacing represents confidently throughout ... AROMA: bread/dough malts mix with a metallic sharpness; some funky yeasts as well--not really appealing... PALATE: reasonably smooth; a flat finish; aftertaste is plausible; drinkable but not very memorable....TASTE: a liquid English muffin whose malts end in a woody, almost lagerish base; some corny residual, though thank God that's not a likely German adjunct... OVERALL: a pilsener that occupies the mouth for a few moments--crisp yet nondescript, Warsteiner is a year-rounder that probably needs a pairing (holiday party, dinner, snack?) to succeed...otherwise, a beer that's a bit more fun to say or see than it is to sip or savor... (898 characters)

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass
Aroma- caught a whiff of hops and maybe a floral backdrop
Appearance- A nice golden yellow color, clear with a lot of carbonation bubbles, nice white head
Taste- A nice robust bitter bite that was not overwhelming. A good flavor
Palate- Medium bodied with a good level of carbonation
Overall- not a bad beer, better than beck's and St. Pauli Girl (392 characters)

11.2 oz. bottle poured into pilsener

L: classic everything -- pale yellow, crystal clear, hundreds and hundreds of bubbles flying up the column, sticky 1-inch-plus head of white that laces a bit on the way down, full skin of foam across the top with a thick white collar

S: more classic everything with a nice bread malt dominance, sour grain, pinch of earth/black pepper hops bitterness

T: bitter bite up front, nice sweet finish of bread malt, lemon in there, too -- it's more bitter than the nose, but that lemon note is leaving it with an almost fruity finish

F: perfect ... light, full

O: love it ... no surprises here, though, for I love the true pilseners. it's got that perfect earthy/black-pepper hop bite and some great sour grain/lemon taste on a nice little bed of sweet barley malt. a brew I'll grab again and again. (841 characters)

This is a solid beer offering from Warsteiner. Crisp and light with a slightly off - skunk? - aroma. The taste is very pleasing if you like American domestics. Would highly recommend you try this beer if you enjoy slightly sweet, less hoppy, yet still malty tastes. (267 characters)

Appearance: Mild smoke on the pop. Pours a crystal clear light pale gold with copious effervescence and a 2-finger eggshell foamy head. Nice retention.

Aroma: Skunky? (but this is a brown bottle and is within date?) Noble hops & skunk. Floral; sweet; lavender.

Taste: Floral, dry clean arrival. Bitter, clean mid palate. Flash of sweetness and big floral hop finish.

Mouthfeel: Quite light, bordering on medium.

Overall: Crisp, slightly sweet, nice strong bitterness. Floral noble hop finish. Would buy this a thousand times over. (546 characters)
