I believe this is now in normal rotation (not a seasonal).

Appearance is a clear amber with a good bit of fizzy carbonation. Head is decent at first, but retention is poor.

Flavor is pretty standard for an ESB. It's got more similarity to the British's bitter, as opposed to other PacNW hoppy versions. Caramel and biscuity malt balance well against the hops. Fruitiness of sour apple there too.

Nice one BBC!

This seasonal bitter is offered from September through May. The hand-scribed table display taunts, “Dive into one of these and see why this is the beer of choice for the British.” To this we may retort, “Or why we kicked their sorry lime-scented asses out of North America.”

All kidding aside, I certainly mean no offense to our imperialist allies across the pond. They did invent the bitter and Big Eddy is a workable representation of this style. It is a clear and statuesque bronze, with wide smooth lace, and a flat bitter finish. It possesses a mild yeasty aroma and is largely consistent with traditional English bitters though the Bend Brewing Co. serves it far too cold.
