I live in Izegem during the winter and race six day bike races. When I am not racing, I spend my evenings at 't Kroegske...When its open that is. I know Izegem is a small town, but I wish this place was open a little more often.
One of the few bars thatr carries Westy. Their house trappist ale is amazing as well. Huge selection and nice beer book.
The ambiance is very Belgian with wooden bar and walls filles with ancient signs. A fair five drink limit, which is plenty when drinking Belgian beers even on a long cold night.
Usually quit and a great place.

A wonderful cafe! The Kroegske proves the old saying "nothing ventured, nothing gained". Well worth the trip to its off-the beaten-path location. They are in Emelgem, just over the bridge/circle from Izegem. Over 500 bottles, great wood bar with lots of beer signs, terrific hosts, and loads of vintage bottles, make the Kroegske one of the best in the world!

Simply one of the best bars in the world; In fact, I cannot think of a better one.. An incredible selection of beers, including some great vintage bottles in excellent shape, very knowledgeable service from Dany, and it all comes together into a great beer experience.

't Kroegske (to be found on a dreary road from Ingelmunster [Van Honsebrouck brewery] to Roeselare [Rodenbach] - and five mins. from Izegem station) is a gem in more than one sense. First of all - it is a hobby, not a full time occupation of Danny Verbeke and his wife Nadine, who have their own profession. Hence, only Thursday, Friday & saturday evenings, as well as from Sunday noon, you can find yourself a place in this latest of Belgiums' contributions to the worship of good beer. Good beer : the tone has been set. NO Alken-Maes, NO Interbrew beers - each with one exception: the only true gueuze's still produced by the big horrids. For the rest: choose from the hand&desktop-made beermenu, which is easy the most beautiful I've ever seen. It will draw your attention on the Celtic preferences of the owner - and the music played will give emphasis on this.
As my rating reflects, the atmosphere has to be experienced to be believed. The rest is just nearly perfect. Choice: only pub in Belgium where you'll find a full choice of Unibroue beers. Service: if you're interested in good beer, a chat with Danny is garantueed.
All beers are served to perfection, with a little snack.
There is food, home-made, too, but the choice is limited to a few specialities, mostly linked with beer. Nadine is behind the oven.
A few warnings: no loud parties, misbehaving children, dogs, cigars or pipe tobacco. A must.
