500 ml bottle into a snifter, as recommended by the brewery. 2018 edition, had 11/26/18.
Pours a cloudy dark amber, with a quarter inch quickly dissipating head and some soapy lacing. Aromas of rye whiskey, malt, figs, dates, some tobacco, some cherries, light plums, oak. The flavor brings rye whiskey, tobacco, figs, dates, malt, oak, light cherries. Smooth, a good medium body but maybe a bit lighter for the style, well carbonated.
The Koval barrels are great, adding lots of oak and tobacco. A little barrel forward, but still balanced. Great aroma. Less fruity and a bit lighter than most most for the style, but very enjoyable. Well worth a purchase if it comes around again.

Had on tap during CCBW 2016.
Poured a rather crisp dark reddish brown with a thin tan head that dissipated rather quickly leaving some tan foam on the beer.
Nice blend of bourbon barrel aromas, including some oak, bourbon and a mild sweetness with the aromas from the underlying beer including brown sugar, dark dried fruits and some malts.
Taste followed the nose with a blend of mellow brown sugar and dark fruits enveloped in a prominent bourbon flavor with some undertones of oak, musk and hints of vanilla.
Feel was smooth and mellow from the aging. Very drinkable with mild carbonation.
Overall a really fine barrel aged Dubbel - I much prefer non-BA dubbels so I am excited to try the base beer from this one.
