Had at the brewhouse. Poured a dark amber with a pretty big rocky head. Smelled fruity, grainy, and with some sweet malt. Taste starts with subdued malt, roasted flavors, slightly hoppy, and with fresh grain flavors. Floral hops on the finish. Mouthfeel was smooth. Not the most integrated example of an Oktoberfest, but pleasant enough. Not really sure this beer benefited from being casked.

Appearance – From the tap, this draws copper colored and moderately cloudy. It sports a 1 finger head that contributes to significant lacing.

Smell – The nose is loaded with malts and high citrus esters.

Taste – While being heavily malty as a märzen should be, this beer is notably crisp. Many spice flavors arise on the tongue as the beer is savored and the hops are perfectly balanced. This really is a superb Oktoberfest beer.

Mouthfeel – Medium-bodied yet crisp.

Drinkability – Superb, a fine Autumn beverage that I’ll seek out again and again.
