Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance - The beer is served a deep brown color with a small cream colored head. The head fades fairly fast leaving a very light bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma is strong of a semi-sweet chocolate smell mixed with a bit of a roasted smell. Along with these smells comes some lighter hints of a nut and a bit of vanilla.
Taste - The taste begins as one may expect from the nose, with some sweeter chocolate and a little bit of roast. The sweet chocolate is enhanced by some light caramel and brown sugar notes with other light sweet tastes of vanilla. The sweeter flavors fade a bit all while the nut and some more roast start to ramp it up. All the while the chocolate fades and a little bit of earth comes to the tongue, leaving one with a light chocolate and nut flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is on the average to slightly thinner side with a carbonation that is on the average side. A bit of a thicker body and lower carbonation may have been slightly better for the brew overall, accentuating the darker tastes slightly better.
Overall- The brew has a decent chocolate hit, but nothing overwhelming. A rather decent more easy drinking more moderate brown.
