A barren, flat surface exists in part to the lack of head. A murky peach nectar looking beer that glows pumpkin orange to the light. Its colour and pulpy appearance has this looking like a fruit puree.
The smell gives you a clear message that this will be an American West Coast rendition of the traditionally mild English style. The oven-fresh bread and biscuit malt is coated in acidic hop resin. The combination makes for a toasty and plant like bouquet.
There is a balance struck between malt and hop, bitterness and sweetness but the body is a little too flat to lift the citrus and fruit out of the hops. As result, they impart more bitterness than flavour and hamper on a lot of the taste.
The taste is enjoyable: oven-fresh biscuits, grassy, grainy wheat and the light zest of flowery Saaz hops. Its makeup is just like that of classic English pale ales, only with some light citrus and the extra punch of hops!
I have no complaints with what I'm drinking, although it might need a little tweaking to become a really great beer. An ounce more carbonation might be welcome support to the cast of hop resins, that make the beginning of what could be an incredibly quenching pint.

Nearly perfect pale ale in my opinion. Very great balance. Not a large malt character but enough. Perfect hop finish. Nice carbonation makes for a refreshing drinking experience. If one was looking for a sessionable beer that still holds a lot of character and is simple but interesting. Easily could be a go-to pale ale.
