I had never visited the old location and finally hit the new one last night. A reasonably attractive room with a nautical theme (I hate pirates tho), as is fitting for the Fremont/Ballard area of Seattle.

The quality of MP's brews is always top shelf and there was a decent selection of beers, many of which don't seem to make out in the wider distribution that their mainline beers do.

The service I had at the bar was decent, not great, not terrible. I did have to expend some effort in getting the bartenders attention when I had a couple simple questions/request however.

Considering it's location in Seattle, the prices were very fair. I had 2 items off the appetizer menu, Double sliders (which were very good, tasty and filling) and beer-battered, deep fried bacon (which was a bit too bready, I thought. And I only had room for 1 of the 4 strips. I took the rest to go and gave them to friends), 1 pint, 1 small glass and a taster and my total was under $20.

Overall, a worthy visit when your in or near Seattle.

Went here a couple years ago and had some massive sandwich with beef patty, fried egg, bacon, etc....screamed heart attack. Delicious! Recently back in the area and that item was gone but my buddies and I all loved our burgers and sandwiches. Service and menu selection is good. We shared a pitcher of their seasonal dry hopped IPA, it rocked! Yes, many places to choose from in the constantly growing Ballard / Fremont area. Worth a stop for lunch and beer, at least once.

Was an early Friday afternoon so I got good service and the beers on the flight were good but not great. This should mean nothing to others, as I am not as well versed in West Coast styles as palettes there tend to be different than the Midwest. I did think the IPA was good and their Winter Warmer is a doozy. There is fierce competition in Seattle when it comes to beer... if it was anywhere else I would visit again but in this instance there are other places nearby I would rather visit.

Stopped in here to finally check out the new and more expanisve Jolly Roger taproom. Parking is easier now. The place is larger, more regualr seating but no old heaters/stoves. Quality is still good. Service was good. I never waited on anything. Selection was good. Any given day you with find the Pale, IIPA which I never found to be imperial, pils, lager, amber but nothing exotic. Food has taken a turn for the worse. The old fried pickles were great, on this day, years later they were cold, barely cooked and with a new breading. But I can not speak for the rest of the food. Still a good place to stop.

Went here a while back for lunch and a few beers. Atmosphere is so so, didn't impress me all that much really, small place with a bar up front and a few tables behind it. The place was packed when I got there so I grabbed a spot at the bar. The beers that I tried were outstanding, I think I had an IPA and a red. The best part about this place was the food however. I had the sliders which were amazing! I didn't remember the menu being very extensive but what I had was great. Service was real good when I was there even though there was only 2 people working. The one downside I can think of was parking, had to park a ways away...didn't see any designated parking lot...but whats new in Seattle parking is always an issue here. Overall a great place, would recommend checking it out for the beer and the excellent food.

The taproom is a small, homey place with 10 to 15 tables, a decently sized bar and a single television. This last fact made it difficult to watch March Madness, but it was better than nothing. The pirate theme is not over-done, which is nice, and the floor is a giant treasure map. I wonder if there's a big X on the floor in the brewing room?

Jolly Rogers features a decently sized and very inventive menu. As the name suggests, go for the seafood. Two small sandwiches of either fried Mahi or grilled Ahi tuna are your best bets, or the larger version of either. All of these were greatly enjoyed by my company.

I, on the other hand, felt adventurous and went with the Asian Po'Boy featuring barbecue pork and Portuguese sausage topped with pickled Asian veggies and ginger mustard. It was spicy and tasty, but I would have preferred the fish. I was expecting something like pulled barbecue pork and was disappointed when the meat looked like lunch meat (though I'm sure it wasn't.)

But the star of the meal was the Smokers. These are giant slices of hand-cut, applewood smoked onions hand breaded and deep fried. These are the best onion rings I've ever had, and I love onion rings.

They've got quite a selection of beer here including two nitro taps and two cask-conditioned taps. The sampler comes with your choice of 5 samples of 5 ounces each. I didn't get to try everything, but what I did have ranged from good to great.

The two that stuck out in my mind were the Flagship Red Alt Ale and the Nightwatch Dark Amber Ale. The Flagship wasn't different from other great red's, but it was crisp, malty and hoppy all at the same time. The Nightwatch was very dark (I'm surprised they call it amber) and was velvety smooth with rich, complex flavors all the way through.

The whole restaurant is served by the two bartenders, which means service can be very dicey. If you manage to capture their attention they take care of you, but if you don't you can be forgotten. And careful when ordering a sampler. They really hate taking the time to fill 5 separate glasses. When we told the waitress we were going to hang out and drink after lunch, she said fine as long as you order, "real beers.

1st stop on my weekend beer tour of Seattle. The brewpub is kind of small and was packed at noon on a Saturday. The staff consists of two bartenders that have to wait tables as well as handle the customers at the bar and therefore are always running around but still were friendly and attentive. I had their Imperial IPA which was quite tasty and my buddy enjoyed a Jolly Roger which was great. The dry hopped pale ale on nitro was rather bland though so I would skip that next time. Food was satisfying but nothing stellar though I would say that their onion rings were better than most I have had with an interesting smokey flavor.
