A: A nice thick head that eventually settles to a quarter inch. A great cloudy medium orange amber hue.
S: smells sweet, hints of sweet baked goods, maybe some medium range hops peeking through.
T: mostly sweet malts upfront for the first few tastes... very surprised that it took a few sips to discover the hops, especially for a double ipa. certainly no tongue biting hops in this one, mostly sweetness and malts to create a pretty balanced rendition of a double ipa.
M: very thick, a bit of grit from the sugar. some oils, the finish is pretty clean.
D: a pretty heavy brew, one of these will pretty much do you for a while.
Notes: overall a very sweet and sugary beer. probably a good one for the winter months as you won't want to do much after consuming one of these.
I was honestly expecting much more out of this beer.
The initial impression was too sweet, too sugary for my taste.
Others might really enjoy this beer but for me it was not as piney or as hoppy as I expected.
That being said, if you take your time with this brew and sip it you will slowly discover all the delicate notes and flavors... The piney notes sneak up and hit you towards the end.
