Picked up a bomber from Total Wine a week and a half ago for $3.99.

Beer poured dark brown with a nice tan head that is leaving lacing behind.

Nose has hints of roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate.

Taste is roasted coffee beans, light chocolate with a decent amount of hops to keep it perfectly balanced.

Mouthfeel is a bit thinner than hoped and not overly smooth.

Overall a very tasty brew.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer pours a very dark, blackish brown coloring with a splash of light, filmy, tan colored surface head. Aromas of bitter coffee, hints of chocolate and toffee, and some earthy notes, all on a roasted backbone. Flavors are heavily roasted forward, with an extremely strong coffee backbone. Bitter and bitter, with bittersweet chocolate highlights throughout. Smooth bodied, slightly dry, with a bitter coffee aftertaste. The finish is dry, with a subtle bitter linger. This is for the coffee drinkers of the world, and that completely fits being from Seattle. Solid flavor profiles and easy to drink.

Had chilled from a bomber, chez White

A: solid black; little head; not much carbonation or lacing
S: stout aroma; dark roast malt dominates
T: powered by dark roast malt; hops are subdued; very flavorful, but really this is more a stout than a porter

It's not a bad beer, but expect just expect more of a stout

22oz, $5, I'm happy even if this is average.
A pretty opaque black pour, thin but well retaining layer of light tan head.

Aroma, fair amount of roast malt. Smaller dark chocolate and coffee. These increase as it warms. Some faint herbally like hop notes.

Taste, A nice chocolatey peaty mix. Some nutty coffee.
Dry roast, light anise and herbal hop bitter in the finish.

Maybe the taddest bit thin, but the carbonation gives this a nice creaminess and it coats well enough. Drinks very easy. An excellent brew, especially for the price. This and their stout are both very good and affordable.

Pike is to me one of the more underrated breweries in the U.S.,they have been around a longtime and I think make very solid beer. This porter pours a deep chocolate brown with some ruby tint when held to the light a half finger beige colored head atop.Aromas of caramel with some fruity esters, mild earthy tones as well.A nice creamy slick feel, medium bodied just right.Flavors of chocolate, caramel, and brown sugar with a good shot of earthy dryness in the finish.A well rounded palate and creamy feel makes this yet another winner from Pike for me.

Served in nonic. Poured a nearly solid black color, very stoutish, with well over an inch of brown head that had moderate retention and lacing.

The aroma had some slightly sweet malts, but was dominated by a very notable roasted scent, just shy of coffeeish. The flavors were nearly identical, light malts and mostly roast.

The body was smooth and even, reasonably full, and had a slightly dry finish. Drinkability was good. Overall, a nice, solid, unspectacular brew. I thought it was more of a stout, but it was still enjoyable. Worth a shot if you see it.

Pike Brewery's "Post Alley" Porter @ 6.0% , from a 650 ml bottle
A-pours very dark brown/black with a good size tan head leaving some lacing along the pint glass
S-roasted smokyness
T-a nice robust richness , smooth
MF-taste of booze lingers on the palate , at just 6.0% impressive
Ov-well done beer by Pike for $6.99 a bomber , don't just try one , enjoy one

Poured from a 650ml bottle. Pours a real dark inky brown-black. Great colour. This is a rich, intense, but very drinkable brew from start to finish. The nose is lush with dark fruits and some roasty smokiness. On the palate, there's more of that smoke combined with dry bitter chocolate notes. The combination offers a nice savoury mouthful that'd be excellent with raw oysters. An excellent porter.

Exceptionally good example of the style. Had this during an Oyster pairing yesterday event for Seattle Beer Week erday and it went perfectly! Not overly roasty, where a number of porters tend to fall by the wayside, this one drinks smooth and deep. I can almost compare it to drinking a draft Black Butte from Deschuttes, but this one actually is richer tasting with less harsh carbonation. Really great stuff from Pike, I highly recommend you pick one up!

22oz Bomber poured into a snifter...

Dark cola brown with one finger off white head very nice smell/taste... I will say it again mouthfeel is everything in these Porters/Stouts and this one is near perfect at 6%... I remember liking the XXX Stout very much as well and this one does not dissapoint either....
