2014 vintage 22oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a dark brown color with a very small fizzy white head that quickly disappears completely, laving nothing behind. Looks like cola

S- the first thing noticed on the aroma is some smoky charred malt that usually isn't found in the style. Beyond that, there is your typical pumpkin spices with an emphasis on nutmeg, also picking up some cola

T- malty and sweet base with cinnamon kicking in mid-palate, beyond that it's hard to pick out any other spices other than a bit of clove. I am picking up a raw pumpkin flavor though. The finish gives more of that charred malt that was found in the aroma, charcoal and burnt woodsy linger

M- medium body with very low carbonation gives a nearly-flat mouthfeel with a slick finish. The alcohol is hidden well, but beyond a slightly prickly hit on the tongue, it's nearly flat

O- this one just seems a little unbalanced, and doesn't really stand out in the world of pumpkin beers. It's easy to drink, but the mouthfeel doesn't really leave you wanting more

Poured into a sam adams custom pint glass: color is dark brown, not opaque but very dark; head is tan, presenting 1/2 inch thick, the dissipating to a top and some bubbles on the glass.

Smell is lighter on the spice, some clove is dominant, subtle cinnamon, maybe allspice; some chocolate malt comes through, maybe some light roast scent as well.

Taste is pretty well blended mix of spice and light malt flavors; absolutely no indication it as strong as it is. Spice profile is similar to the aroma, cloves, cinnamon, allspice, maybe some ginger; malt is subtle, mainly light caramel, chocolate and roast.

Mouthfeel is where this beer fails to me, the booze and spice must catch up to really dry it out leaving a poor lasting impression on the tongue. Flavors bounce on the tongue and cheeks but are overtaken by this over drying quality.

Overall, a decent beer but it does not seem to jump out in terms of backbone beer (is it a porter or brown ale) and the spice profile seems heavy to one type which results in a sub par mouthfeel to me.

Pike Brewing 'Harlot's Harvest Pumpkin Ale' @ 8.5% , served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $7

A-pour is a dark brown from bottle to glass with a small off white head which is quickly dissapating leaving a minimal lace ring along the pint

S-spicey pumpkin pie , nice amount of my favs (nutmeg & cinnamon)

T-tasty dark pumpkin ale , almost porter like , butt closer to a marzen

MF-ok/mild carbonation , bit thin , must be the ABV , I can definately feel the booze

Ov-ok/good beer , plus the nice pumpkins on the label make this a worthy pumpkin ale for us beer geeks/pumpkin beer freaks

A: Pours a clear but almost opaque dark brown in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some deep cola brown + crimson red highlights. The beer has a finger tall creamy dark beige head that slowly reduces to a mottled medium thick film that covers the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of toasted bready malts with light aromas of pumpkin and slightly heavier than moderate aromas of pumpkin pie spices - specifically cinnamon and nutmeg stand out.

T: Upfront there is a light flavor of toasted bready malts with a moderate amount of caramel and vanilla sweetness. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of roasted pumpkin and slightly heavier than moderate flavors of pumpkin pie spices - cinnamon and nutmeg. Hints of bitterness in the finish but it fades pretty quickly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Hints of dryness from the spices in the finish.

O: Quite a bit darker in appearance than I have come to expect for a pumpkin ale, maybe heading towards a brown ale or porter in appearance. It is a little sweet but not cloyingly so and it hides the 8.5% ABV pretty well - it is barely noticeable in the aroma or flavor. I think I enjoyed this one a little more than some of the other reviewers but I enjoy the style.

From notes.

22oz bottle purchased at a nearby grocery store.

The beer poured a dark mahogany color, taking on a more orangey-amber hue when held up to light. Beige-colored foam head. Said head dropped within a couple of minutes, leaving spotty lace.

Pumpkin pie-type spices greeted the nose. Seemed like it was going to be rather sweet.

My suspicions were correct. This was a sweet, sugary beer. The sweetness was much like the nose in that it reminded me of the smell of a piece of pumpkin pie, but the sweetness was even more pronounced.

The body was somewhere between medium and full. The mouthfeel was coating and prickly.

Another pumpkin beer that's thoroughly mediocre. I'd be interested in trying a version of this that is less sweet.

I bought a bomber of Harlot's Harvest Pumpkin Ale in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a dark walnut color with a thin beige head. There are garnet red hues shining through the beer when held up to the fall sunlight.

Snell is faint, with some sweet spice and squash notes on the nose.

Taste is very much a pumpkin porter. Rich charcoal flavors, with some pumpkin and spice, clove and cinnamon along side, and mild bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is full-bodied in keeping with the porter style.

Overall a rich dark pumpkin ale. None of the flavors are overpowering, and this is remarkable drinkable on a fall afternoon.
