A - opaque black, dark tan head, lots of sticky lace

S - burnt/roasted malts, maybe a bit of dry cocoa, clean

T - dry, bitter, highly roasted, outstanding aftertaste, roast lingers, pretty basic malt, no caramel, toffee or dark fruit, just a ton of friggin roast, but it is somehow not harsh, no hop flavour, bitterness is more malt than hop

M - med low carbonation, med body, somewhat creamy, no alcohol warmth, dry finish, no astringency despite heavy use of roasted malts

D - hell ya, great roast flavour on this one, can't wait for the next sip, but the aftertaste is terrific too

This beer doesn't screw around with hops or complimentary malts. It just gives you a big blast of roasted malt, yet it is not overdone (O'Haras Celebration Stout is similar, yet it is harsh and in fact overdone). Very affordable in Alberta, I'll definitely be picking up more on my next trip.

Picked up a bomber from Total Wine in late March for $4.99.

Beer poured black with a nice full tan head that is leaving some lacing behind.

Nose is mocha, roast, ans espresso.

Taste is roasty with hints of espresso and dark chocolate. Finish has a nice hop bit to balance things out nicely.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall this is a very good brew. Definitely seek this one out!

No light is getting through this one. Inky black with a creamy tan head. The head dissipates down to a slight disc that leaves some nice lacing. The aroma is mild, with some light notes of roasted malt and coffee. The taste is pure dark roasted malt. It has a nice burnt astringency tempered with a nice earthy hops on the finish. It has a good weight to the body and a nice silky feel on the palate. It's a straight-forward rich and malty stout.
