Near Pike Market, the Pike Pub is like a Hard Rock Cafe of brewpubs--there's tons of interesting breweriana adorning the walls, but one can't help feel slightly manipulated by the commercialized nature of the place. It's located downstairs a few storefronts down from the actual Pike Place Market, and they carry all of their house beers on tap. The pub is enormous; there are several dining rooms, a large bar area, and, of course, a dry goods section that hawks lots of Pike-beer merchandise. The bar is tucked behind the t-shirts.

My friend and I sampled all of the house wares and were so thoroughly unimpressed that we left without ordering a single pint. All of the beers tasted over-attenuated (dry) and metallic. Only the Weisse Beer, their American wheat ale, was passable, but it wasn't good enough to merit a pint or schooner on its own. It may have only been passable by comparison. Their tripel and barley wines were not on tap, but the first seven beers were enough to make me pass on buying bombers.

Between the dizzying atmosphere and the mediocre beer, stay away and save yourself a headache.

Ok place. Beer is not the best but great when you're at Pike Place Market.

This place is near and dear to me. I first visited in 1997, when craft breweries were popping up all over the Pacific Northwest. The combination of funky location, great food and interesting beer had me hooked immediately. Each of my return visits have been equally favorable. They make great burgers, but my absolute favorites are the Penn Cove Mussels or the fish and chips. For me, no visit to Seattle is complete without a stop by the Pike Pub & Brewery.

I stopped into this place merely because I walked by it. It seemed to be somewhat of a tourist trap. It was mid afternoon and pretty busy. I walked up to the bar and ordered a sampler. My buddy and I walked into the adjoining room and plopped down away from the crowd. The room we entered had tables and booths but also casual living room style seating.

The beers were average, but the place was amazing. There was breweriana everywhere from tap handles to bottle openers, from old beer cans to postcards, etc. It was basically a beer museum which I found awesome once I got settled in. I wandered the place checking out the various displays while drinking my samples. All of the sudden, the average samples seemed well paired with the surrounding museum atmosphere.

I did manage to have a good beer, albeit a guest tap. The crowning jewel of my experience was finding a postcard of a pre-prohibition brewery from my hometown, Dostal Bros. Brewing. The sentimentality of that experience elevated Pike Brewing for me.

I look at the place as a beer museum that brews its own beer. It is a very cool place to check out based on the breweriana. The beer isn't awful. I had a memorable time. It is a cool place to check out.
