When I visited this store, I got the Trader Joe's vibe. Not a bad thing. Just the first thought that came to mind. They sell wine, beer, and other spirits.

I think about 60% of their beers are refrigerated and rest on shelves. I thought selection was pretty good, a blend of standard craft beers along with German and Belgians beers. I don't recall if they carried harder to find stuff. I'm also not sure how they do with limited releases.

The space here is comfortable because it's so big, and you don't feel crowded like at many other places.

I thought the prices were really good. This is a solid place to shop for craft beers in the area.

HB Liquor warehouse has a huge selection of craft beers, knowledgeable friendly staff, and the best prices in town. If they don't carry it, they will likely order it, and if they haven't heard of what you are looking for, you are either saying it wrong or it probably doesn't exist.

HBLW also carries a large selection of wine, nicely sorted and a well thought out layout make everything easy to find.

The have a good selection of spirits all of the major brands and I was especially delighted to find my Favorite "Tito's Vodka" and a very reasonable $17.00

This place is Disneyland for adults and can't be matched by the hipster chain warehouse stores.

I came here a few times and i always find myself wandering and checking out the selection, by the which is huge. The way they organize the beer is impressive. Basically i giant open fridge that takes up a whole wall that's filled with bombers and 6-packs.

I never had the opportunity to chat to the people that were working at the time but they seem like nice knowledgeable people. I am sure that if you are looking for something different or seasonal, odds are you will have to ask them if they have anything in the back. I find myself recently noticing that most places will always hold those special beers somewhere in the back and usually one per customer.

This place has been tucked back in the corner of the Adams/Magnolia shopping center for some time. I even recall my father telling me that he bought a bottle of wine the day I was born from there, so this place has obviously been doing well.

Some hard to find beers, seasonals, and even a few novelties (they had hop infused bourbon once) The only problem, and the reason I gave a low score for quality is that they only refrigerate the beers that sell, and because they sell crap domestics you can get ANYWHERE a good portion of the cold wall is occupied with Supermarket beer. What a joke! To top it ALL off, I observed MULTIPLE fresh/liberally hopped beers sitting out at ROOM temperature.

This is a real negative for me, fluctuations in temperatures DESTROY the hop profile in IPA's, not to mention storing for multiple days at room temperature further causes the hops to fade out more rapidly than if refrigerated. I purchased a Sierra Nevada Northwest Harvest Fresh Hopped ale from them the other day and it tasted exactly like I thought it would from having set out at room temp for days/weeks: Like a ghost of what it should be. No fireworks, no explosions. Just bitter and bland.

The kid and the boss who helped me were raving about the Sierra Nevada "Celebration" Fresh hop ale. When he mentioned he was intending on aging a few cases I pointed out that it's not recommended for hopped beers, especially fresh hopped because it adds nothing unique and only causes the flavor to become watered down and weak. They laughed as if they knew better, and insisted that for some reason "you can do that with this one."

Get with it guys.

UPDATE: I still go back now and then because they do have the occasional good brew, however, they often refuse to break up a six pack! How is it that total wine, Hi Time, and Mr. Kegs, all large, medium, and small operations, in that order, are able to let you buy singles? "The beer will just sit there, we won't be able to turn it over." Yeah, because you have to let people know they can mix and match from a shelf of some kind. Even the grocery store lets you make a mix pack now. What if I don't want 4 bottles of Sierra Nevada "Narwhal?" Seriously, get with the times.

This one is a bit off the beaten path (at least, coming from Hi-Time), but it is a nice place to hit. It's easy to find due to a sign out on the street indicating the location of the store in a strip mall on Adams.

I walked in to see a rather barebones store with a single employee manning the cash register. Wines and spirits are straight ahead with the beer selection off to the right (and having the majority of space, to be honest).

Lots of CA and west coast beers (Russian River, Lost Abbey, Stone, Rogue, Moylan's, Lagunitas, and a ton of Bigfoot). They also had the newest release of Brandy Angel's Share, which was quite nice.

The prices are perhaps the best part about this place. Most of the items are at least a dollar cheaper than they can usually be found (the Brandy AS was $14 and Blind Pig at $4, for example).

I found this to be a good store, and the prices definitely help it out. That said, there are definitely stores with larger selections.

Been here a few times, decided to review now due to a specific event. First of all this is a big place with so much room, its nice not to be stuck in a cluster f. They have a good selection of beers in open cooler and on shelves and a designated cooler and center display for special release or seasonal beer. Recently I went in just to pick up 2 sam adams perfect pints at 1.99 a peice. They did not have the special release I was looking for which was not a shocker, no one does. but I ended up getting hooked up big time. thats all I can say. Beermail me if you absolutly need to know.

Hit this place up before going to my good friend's bachelor party. I had looked this up and had to give it a go. Walking in, the store has everything displayed very nicely. It looks a bit old in there but they had great presentation - everything was stocked, full, and ready for my picking.

Service was good - got into a small conversation with a worker about beer before he had to go help someone else.

Selection was pretty good - while they didn't have some things I can get up north a bit, they did have Sculpin, Punkin, quite a few Lagunitas specialties, the new Stone/Maui collaboration, etc. I picked up quite a few different fun beers and was so pumped I had finally found Sculpin.

On top of finding these great beers, the prices were by far the cheapest I've seen. I kept comparing prices to my shop and the Liquor Warehouses were honestly a dollar or two less per a bomber.

Overall, I'd go back if I was in the area, for sure.

I'm always looking to get good deals on beer, and Liquor Warehouse has been on my radar for some time for that reason. Came here after my visit to Huntington Beach Beer Company. Next door to a Smart & Final extra!, This place is plain on the inside, nothing that really catches the eye. Maybe that's how they keep the prices down. More on that later.

About half the beer is refrigerated, and half the beer is dispayed at store temperature. The beers I spotted were in very good condition, and there was a good selection of beers. For starters, there is Kwak, Bear Republic, Moylan's, Ballast Point, Duvel, St. Peter's, Paulaner, Flying Dog, Victory, Allagash, Hacker Pschorr. To my surprise, there were also a handful of beers which are more difficult to find: The Bruery, Bootlegger's, Telegraph, PtE and Blind Pig, Bourbon County Stout...even Sculpin. Clean shelves, beers away from potential sunlight, and PtE bottled on 4-20-09.

And prices....well let me tell you. PtE: $3.99. BCS (single): $4.39. Saison De Lente: $7.99. Arrogant Bastard: $3.59. Union Jack (bomber):$2.99. Samuel Smith's: $3.19. They're among the best price of stores in Orange County.

Courteous service at checkout. Nothing more, nothing less.

In a nutshell, this is a really large liquor store with a few surprises, and outstanding prices.

Some stores put a lot of effort into their selection and then sometimes you find a place that seems to do it effortlessly. This is one of those places. Some people may remember the Liquor Warehouse chain that shut down about 15 years ago. If I am not mistaken, this is a remaining location that seems to have been taken over by the old employees.

For people in the know in HB, this is the place to get your best beers at the best prices. While most places absorb discounts into margin, if LW receves a great deal, that deal is reflected in their selling price and usually sits in stacks in the middle of the floor or on one of the two specialty beer stands closer to thier cooler. Basically, there is no way to leave this place without some great deal. A "must stop in" before holiday BBQs!

It is actually a shame that this store does not get more mention on BA, as this would easily become a regular stop for anybody in the Northern OC area.

I wasn't blown away by this store, but immediately noticed the prices beat most of what I had paid at BevMo up closer to 405.

Service was prompt, and seemed to know what they were doing, and by the time I visited I'd been to so many places I needed little help anyway.

Selection didn't wow me, and I found no real surprises. It is what it is - a place with a decent but not world-class selection of craft beer at good prices all while staying within a few minutes drive of your beach blanket or volleyball game.

Located on the corner of Adams and Magnolia, near a local anomaly, a 4-way stop where each corner has a gas station, very interesting. The prices here can not be beat, the best I've found in North County. Paulaner Salvator is $1.89 for a 500mL bottle, unbelievable. Most of their beer is in the cooler to the right as you walk in, the rest are at room temperature. They also have a wide selection of wine and spirits which I did not peruse while I was there. Service is good, though I didn't really need it, they rung me up fast, no problems.

As has already been said, they have a good selection of beers here. Not as extensive as Hi Time (but then who is), but the West Coast brews are very well represented. I find probably 85-90% of what I'm looking for here, and can always get those last few at HiTime. Price-wise, I have not seen better. Pretty much the entire stock is cheaper than HiTime and Bevmo, and their clearance table will have some good deals on occassion. It's a fun place. The only negative is the front of the store is all glass, so sunlight does get in later in the day. However, the beer I've had so far has all been fine, so I'm not worrying too much about that.

Edit: Bumped up the ratings a bit - I think I should have marked them higher to begin with. Good store here.

Store is located in a run down looking strip mall. Not much to look at, but definitely worth the trip inside! Great beer selection with a row of imports, and three walls of American craft brews. Much more selection devoted to micros and imports than domestic swill. Tables in the middle of the beer area devoted to different specialties (one to Belgians, one to new stuff, and one for seasonals). Great prices, with even better sales. Staff seemed helpful. Wandered for quite a while before choosing a selection of some rare stuff, and some cheap (sale) stuff. Great store!

Ahhh, finally a store in Huntington Beach with a good abundant selection. You can find most of the top names here and many others ie Chimay, Unibroue, Stone - almost the whole line, Franziskaner, Paulaner, Alesmith, Ballast Point, Allgauer, Norh Coast, Hopf, Pirat, along with the mass produced suds... you get the picture. All this nectar is stored on shelves and on the 50 foot long cooler, my favorite part. It's like admiring art when you peruse the selection. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They even asked me why I was buying bud light as I set my 6 bottles of Stone Smoked Porter on the register (in my defense, it's for my girlfriend). All in all, a good healthy beverage store.
