Some stores put a lot of effort into their selection and then sometimes you find a place that seems to do it effortlessly. This is one of those places. Some people may remember the Liquor Warehouse chain that shut down about 15 years ago. If I am not mistaken, this is a remaining location that seems to have been taken over by the old employees.

For people in the know in HB, this is the place to get your best beers at the best prices. While most places absorb discounts into margin, if LW receves a great deal, that deal is reflected in their selling price and usually sits in stacks in the middle of the floor or on one of the two specialty beer stands closer to thier cooler. Basically, there is no way to leave this place without some great deal. A "must stop in" before holiday BBQs!

It is actually a shame that this store does not get more mention on BA, as this would easily become a regular stop for anybody in the Northern OC area.

HB Liquor warehouse has a huge selection of craft beers, knowledgeable friendly staff, and the best prices in town. If they don't carry it, they will likely order it, and if they haven't heard of what you are looking for, you are either saying it wrong or it probably doesn't exist.

HBLW also carries a large selection of wine, nicely sorted and a well thought out layout make everything easy to find.

The have a good selection of spirits all of the major brands and I was especially delighted to find my Favorite "Tito's Vodka" and a very reasonable $17.00

This place is Disneyland for adults and can't be matched by the hipster chain warehouse stores.

I came here a few times and i always find myself wandering and checking out the selection, by the which is huge. The way they organize the beer is impressive. Basically i giant open fridge that takes up a whole wall that's filled with bombers and 6-packs.

I never had the opportunity to chat to the people that were working at the time but they seem like nice knowledgeable people. I am sure that if you are looking for something different or seasonal, odds are you will have to ask them if they have anything in the back. I find myself recently noticing that most places will always hold those special beers somewhere in the back and usually one per customer.

This place has been tucked back in the corner of the Adams/Magnolia shopping center for some time. I even recall my father telling me that he bought a bottle of wine the day I was born from there, so this place has obviously been doing well.

Great Selection, doesn't compare to Farmer's harvest for hard to find rare beers such as those eccentric ones from Alpine and Russian River but they do have Pliny (3 per person, per visit) on occasion. The quality of the beer is nice, but they do carry your standard domestic fare as well as the good stuff.

Some hard to find beers, seasonals, and even a few novelties (hop infused bourbon anyone?) The only problem, and the reason I gave a low score for quality is that they only refrigerate the beers that sell, and because they sell crap domestics you can get ANYWHERE a good portion of the cold wall is occupied with Supermarket beer. What a joke! To top it ALL off, I observed MULTIPLE fresh/liberally hopped beers sitting out at ROOM temperature.

This is a real negative for me, fluctuations in temperatures DESTROY subtle hop profiles, not to mention storing for multiple days at room temperature causes the strong pungency and flavor of the hops to diminish MUCH more rapidly then if refrigerated. I purchased a Sierra Nevada Northwest Harvest Fresh Hopped ale from them the other day and it tasted exactly like I thought it would from having set out at room temp: Like a ghost of what it used to taste like. No fireworks, no explosions. Just bitter and pleasantly scented.

The kid and the boss who helped me were raving about the Sierra Nevada "Celebration" Fresh hop ale. When he mentioned he was intending on aging a few cases I pointed out that it's not recommended for hopped beers, especially fresh hopped because it adds no unique flavor profiles, and only causes the flavor to become watered down and weak. They laughed as if they knew better, and insisted that for some reason "you can do that with this one."

Get with it guys.
