Singha, Thailand's Lion beer. All the major Thai beers have an animal as a signet; e.g. Chang is the Elephant, Archa is the Horse, Tiger beer is (no surprises) a Tiger. Singha however has an advantage over the other Thai macros in that it is brewed 100% barley malt - which as I will soon taste - makes for a better Lager.
Poured from a 330ml bottle into a Carlsberg Lager tulip.
A: Presents a clear straw golden body with a white head that fizzles quickly down to a light dusting.
S: The malt is quite evident and upfront in the aroma, along with some faint grassy hops in the background. There is a note of honey sweetness as well. It does have a refreshing fragrance this Lager.
T: Begins with sweet honey and malt, then mid palate expresses a meaty malt base, with a long dry finish. Crisp, refreshing and a tad watery, as are most SE Asian beers, must be the heat or something [sarcasm intended]. There is an odd feeling on the tongue in the after-taste though, some slimy film coats the taste buds, weird huh?
M: Mid to light body, some slight wateriness with some sharp carbonation (a common Lager characteristic).
D: Apart from that after-taste this is one hard to fault Lager. It does have a bit less yeast and hops than a European Lager, which I personally prefer, but it's a bit of a subjective area when it comes to which beer suits which drinker. The price is right Larry, at around $13 to $16 per 6-pack depending where you get it. Overall a thirst slaking brew of affable character.
Food match: Thai, Vietnamese and Malaysian are sure-fire picks. Aside from that BBQ fare is also a great match. One could even see this brew working quite well with sushi.

A straw-golden pour with a medium white head. The heads fades quite quickly and the beer looks much like apple juice. The nose is moderately malty. Taste wise i found the maltiness was accompanied with a grainy sweetness that stayed through the finish. A pretty light mouthfeel, nice carbonation, but light. This an slightly below average beer as it stands. An easy drinker but not one that i would return to on many occasions. Overall, a light malty beer of little distinction.

A: poured into a pint glass from a bottle producing minimal white head that diminished quickly. Minimal lacing. Color was golden yellow.
S: Nothing particularly noteworthy but not bad
T: Crisp and clean with a light but well balanced taste. Like much of this brew, nothing stands out as particularly outstanding but everything works together nicely. Finishes a little dry without much lingering effect.
M & D: The lighter body makes this rather drinkable without lingering aftertastes or getting too full.
Overall an okay brew but nothing singularly fantastic about it. I enjoyed it with some spicy Chinese food and it complimented the meal nicely.

Perhaps a surprise to the beer geeks, this beer is brewed with 100 percent barley malt, no adjuncts. Small beaded bubbles form a nice thick head with a little lacing on the glass. Filtered clarity shows a bright golden yellow color. The aroma comes off as pleasing with a sweet malt, grassy grain and mellow herbal hop mix. Crispness is right on target for the style, moderately sized fluffy body does flex a small creamy portion of leftover dextrins. Grainy but clean, more of a bready and feed grain flavor which is a tasty compliment to the kiss of hops. Bitterness is modest as the hops let the malt do what it does and coats the palate with a thin sheet of herbal flavor. Finishes semidry with a clean graininess.
The malt flavor and the stellar crispness does what not many lagers can, it harnesses an epic refreshing quality and maximizes drinkability. You don't have to be eating in a Thai restaurant to drink this beer; it's good enough to stand on its own.

Presentation: 21 fl oz light brown bottle. It's a very unique container in that it tappers in twice going up to the bottle-neck.
Appearance: Pours a pretty hazy pale straw liquid with a large pillowy white foam head with meringue characterists, trailing the sides of the glass as it settles. Pour slowly as this beer foams up real quick.
Smell: Touch of sweet grain, metallic, alcohol and faint floral hop aromas.
Taste: A smooth beer with a unique rich malt sweetness and mouthfeel, like medicinal syrup. It's strong and the alcohol makes its presence known with a spicy and faint liquor punch. Notes of grain flavour follow then get leveled by a lime (touch of grapefruit) rind-like hop bitterness that peaks to a gentle sting on the palate. Finishes with some residual spice and a bit grain dry.
Notes: The perfect beer to accompany some spicy Thai food, or the like, but I could not see myself sitting down all night and drinking this on its own -- maybe 2 or 3. Although it is not that strong, beware as the alcohol silently kicks in.
Had this once again, but this time at Jae's in Boston to complement my Spicy Korean Chicken Lunchbox special. For a malt liquor, it's one of the better ones IMO. Clear, deep golden in colour with a thin white lace. Full-bodied, rich with flavour, albeit the flavour is near one dimensional, and just the right amount of hops to balance. Has a nice bready roundness that runs into the finish.
Highly recommended with Thai food -- quite the refreshing contrast.

As with most Asian beer there is that sweetness, it is not out of balance by any means but that sweetness is there. Super crisp and very refreshing. The mild hop bitterness is set for balanced and the graininess is not harsh at all.
All in all this is a great brew to pair with Spicy BBQ, spicy Tai cuisine would be the obvious pick.

Pours a clear, pale yellow, with a rocky, white, two finger head that leaves minimal lace behind. Not bad looking, except for the lack of color.
Aroma is hoppy, with lemon, hay, and a sulfuric note that reminds me of Euroskunk hops of the Heineken variety.
Mouthfeel has medium carbonation, a metalic presence, and an unpleasant sulfuric note.
Taste has very little malt presence, some skunk, and a dominant taste of cardboard. Alcohol is well concealed, which is the highlight of this brew. Some adjuncts add a vague offnote to the already unimpressive taste.
Very disappointed in this one, as I love Thai food.

330mL brown bottle best before 270106. Low density head with sticky lacing, dissipates slightly faster than normal. Appropriate lager colour, low to moderate carbonation.
Fairly harsh adjunct smell, some hops which may be turning a bit, grass and Asian macro beer aroma. On the crap side of innocuous.
Not the best taste, but quite good for a macro at 5.9%. Actually, that isn't saying much. Kind of harsh and burny on the tongue, tastes like it would get gross fast, though really cold it would be OK on a hot Thai evening. The more I drink, the more I lower my score for flavour. Rough and unpleasant mouthfeel, and abysmal drinkability: I would not want to be drinking this all night. Overall, quite a bad beer.

Opened 11.2 Fluid Ounce Bottle, pouted into Nonic glass.
Head develops on pour, this disappears almost immediately. Brew is a lt gold color.
Smell is of malts (sort of sweet smelling), sort of subdued. Taste subtle as well. Not bad, actually, quite palatable for this style. Decent mouth feel, bubbles have a "club soda" feeling, and finish rather smoothly with little after taste. I'd drink this again, but I think it would have to be with a nice spicy Thai meal.

Pours clear gold with a medium white head. Lagery metallic aroma. Taste was more of the same, yet sweeter and less corny. More of a rice flavor. I had this beer at PF Chang's. It tasted good with the Dan Dan noodles. But when I see it sitting there on the shelf at BevMo, I know it will never make it into my fridge.

12oz Bottle poured in snifter.
Light color, similar to bud light. Very unappealing smell, the rice/adjuncts come through on the nose. However the taste is surprisingly good! It's kind of sweet and malty, not too bad! However I can tell it would be very bad once it gets warm.
Pretty interesting for a Thai beer!

Had this with my lunch at a local Thai place. I ordered the Pad Thai instead of my normal Masaman Curry. I think it would have gone better with something a little spicier as the noodles were a little sweet.
Anyway the beer poured with a small white head that quickly fell to nothing. Lots of carbonation bubbles rising and a transparent golden color. More gold than a Budweiser.
Smell was average with a little bit of hop snap but mostly a clean smell. Reminded me a little of steamed rice or corn.
Taste was good, much more hop bitterness than the aroma would let on. Lots of bubbles in the mouth from the carbonation. Good with food, not really something I would want to pound all night.
