This Belgian-style Brown Ale has a nice malty aroma and flavor that dominates over the moderate hop bitterness. A roasted, chocolate-like and biscuit-like aroma is derived from dark malts. Noble-type hop flavor and aroma, fruity esters and phenolic spiciness & slight tartness/acidity from the Belgian yeast are perceptible.

Had this in a 6 ounce sample glass. The color was on the red side, more a rusty red than a ruby red.

The smell was a bit candy like, with a definite brown sugar hint to it.

The taste was decent, and as expected. There was brown sugar, raisin, and a bit of spiciness. Not the most complex of this style I've had, but not bad.

I thought the mouthfeel was the weakest part of this one, was thin for this style. Overall, not the best beer in this style I've had, but still a solid entry. I would mind trying this again on my next visit. (535 characters)

This was the least favorite of the beers I had at the brewpub today.

It poured a dark, ruddy brown with a red glint in the light. It had a fairly good clarity, a slight haze, but not much visible yeast. A thin ring around the surface, it had trouble generating any sort of head. Toasted malt aroma, sort of sweet like wort.

Taste had a burnt toast flavor, with an earthy bitterness in the middle. It felt too slick and coating, and stuck to the palate for awhile. Low carbonation, and sort of dull overall. (509 characters)
