A dark German-style wheat beer characterized by a distinct sweet maltiness and a dark chocolate-like character. Fruity and phenolic esters are evident but subdued, hop bitterness is low while hop flavor and aroma are absent.

On draft today at the brewpub in Normal.
Murky tawny reddish brown, opacity was a bit muddy. Copious visible carb trails, feeding into a tan head of foam that left some spotty lacing behind.
Earthy and sweet aroma of clove phenols and light banana from the Hefe yeast. Pleasant.
Taste was similar, some toasted grain and toffee, caramel sauce and bananas. Only a hint of sweetness, finishing fairly dry with a very light bitterness. Smooth feel, carbonation wasn't distracting. Pretty solid rendition of the style, maybe they'll do an imperial version someday.
