Poured in a Snifter glass at the Capital Tap Haus on State Street in Madison.

This is a stout, so very dark in appearance, and had an excellent, full finger, tannish/mocha head that lasted for a bit and provided decent lacing as the brew went down.

I believe this was billed as Chocolate Habenero Stout. I just wasn't getting much out of the nose. Chocolate notes, but that's about it - but very minimal. Roasty malt scent not apparent. Looking for a little more, but not the end of the world.

Medium to full-bodied beer, and could taste the chocolate in the front-end, a little sweet, but the finish was where the Habenero made its appearance. Not overwhelming by any means. Just enough to let you know this is a pepper-beer. Very complimentary to the beer and paired up nicely with the stout. This reminds me of what Chocolate Chili Brownies would taste like in liquid form. Nicely done.

It's nice to see Capital branching out and experimenting with these new and different flavors and offerings since the new brewmaster took over. I'm expecting to see, and taste, more great things from Capital.

Dark brown. Surprising clarity on the pour. Weak head with minimal retention and vurtually no lacing.

Odd aroma of sour lactose.

Hint of roasted malt. Weak for any style of stout. Mild maple sweetness. Just the slightest touch of pepper heat. I would like to add that so far the flavors are well balanced in their weakness. Strange lactose flavor is present in the finish.

Medium body. Weak carbonation. Little texture. Leaves my mouth slick and dry begging for more body and texture.

In a word, subpar. I don't think I'll be trying any more beers from capital brewing.

Habanero? Really? Great job by the Capital brewmasters pulling this together. The beer is a solid, well rounded stout. A little slick on the finish. There is a very subtle chocolate and spicy peppery finish with habanero. It is a good.... no. Great winter warmer.

E. Flame pours a black color with a large tan head. There is a coffee and chocolate aroma. The taste has a nice dry chocolate flavor, very dry, and then finishes with a smokey and spicy habanero pepper flavor. Nice full flavor, good body, and a bit spicy. Overall a big change from previous Eternal Flames, good full chocolate pepper beer.
