on tap at the brewpub in Middleton. pours a rich golden color with a single finger of white head that retains poorly and leaves moderate lacings.

aroma is of light lager yeast with a distant sweetness and a touch of floral grain in the background. pleasant and fresh in the nose.

taste is a solid mix of lager yeast, golden malts and a mix of floral notes and munich malts. the malt profile is similar to a steam beer, though not nearly as assertive. well put together with a nice mix of flavors and a clean finish of little residual.

mouthfeel is light bodied and satisfying. a well made lager with enough flavor to sustain itself over a couple rounds.

drinkability is good. a solid lager with a drinkable aura. twice the concentration and this could be a great steam beer. cheers!

A-Pours a chalky white head that quickly dies. Straw golden with just the slightest cloud noticed.
S-Pale malt aroma, just a hint of hoppy spice, and an ethanol astringency.
T-lagerish-hints of malt and a little touch of hops but not much else going on
M-A little heavier than many domestic lagers
D-As with most lagers this could be pounded into oblivion.
O-This is a nice lager. As with most Capital brews it is well done. But in my opinion if you're going to have a lager-why bother spending the extra money for this one and just get one of the cheap domestics. This one isn't that much different. I doubt that many people could distinguish this from MGD.

Ah, my first beer review from Canfest. . . my old friend Capital Brewery, ah, they should do some big business with the Buckeyes coming to Camp Randall this Saturday.

Yellow pour, a little darker than usual canned yellow beer. Not much if any aroma going on.

Taste, wow, this is really bland. Talk about "truth in advertising," the can actually says "not bad." True, the best thing you can say about this, is 'not bad' indeed. This is their BMC beer, and well, all things considered . . . ('not bad'). Somewhat smooth, as if a light cream ale. Not a lot of anything (hops, malt, yeast flavor) aside from water.

I hear its $10 a 6 pack? That levels out the otherwise awesome drinkability of a marginal beer.

Served in a pint glass

A - golden amber with a generous 2 finger froathy white head with good retention and good lacing

S - Wheat, meat, bready yeast.

T - Pretty sweet malty notes, nice bready almost meaty biscuit flavor.

M - Light body, moderate carbonation

O - It has been said before "not bad"

(Served in a strange)
A- This beer has a very slight hint of hazy to the golden body with a thin white head that soon fades away. There is a big carbonation of bubbles that pop of the bottom of the glass and glide to the surface.
S- This beer has a clean aroma with a soft note of dry corn and a faint sulfur smell in the finish. There is a faint musty quality that reminds me of roast beef but it is very light.
T- This beer has a very clean taste with a carbonic acid note in the finish. The dry corn hint comes through in the aftertaste and grows as the beer warms. The taste of raw grain hulls grows as the beer opens.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a slightly flat texture and a soft fizz in the finish.
D- This beer is dry and clean with no off flavors or much character at all. It is a well build beer just a bit bland and dull to drink.

Here's another beer that I had on NYE at Towne Inn in Jefferson, WI. I had heard that this beer was pretty good so I thought I'd give it a shot.

It's a good quality beer. This is a good simple balanced beer with a medium body, good mouthfeel and taste. I could see myself drinking a few more of these in the future.

"0302" stamped on the bottom; poured from a 12oz can into my Harriet pils glass.

Clear pale golden amber with a soft milky white head. Soapy lacing, average retention.

Sweet faintly grainy aroma with a hint of grass.

Sweet grainy palate entry with hints of corn (despite this not being brewed with adjunct) and hay. Low bitterness. Relatively crisp, yet still sweet finish.

Light bodied, well carbonated, and nicely lagered.

Not bad for the style, but a bit too sweet and dull. Their motto is apt: "Not Bad."

12oz single left in my fridge. i've seen the billboards, figure i should try this nonsense

12oz single

appearance: served in a GTTM taster glass in anticipation of drain pour. lifeless macro-straw body. like orange water almost

smell: woo - macro lager. not sure how they worked that green-bottle skunk into this but bravo on that

taste: if this beer is produced to sell to the masses in order to fund more expensive craft offerings, then i'm cool with it. however, i dont see the point in capital disregarding their capabilities and making something this average - skunky, dull hops, almost makes you wish it was flavorless.

mouthfeel: light, lawnmower beer

drinkability: fine, decent enough to finish a bottle, but i probably wont

Picked up a single can from Princeton's Liquors. It's always nice to see a respectable take on the ol' American lager. It poured clear gold from the can and had a quickly receding head of foam. The aroma was a husky, slightly vegetal bread smell with a hint of malt sugar. The flavor then, is unsurprisingly sweet. It's not anything overpowering, just a nice light caramel to go along with the white bread, barley and slightest hint of spicy hops. Overall, this is a great lawnmower beer. I'd take a case out to a lake house in the summer.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a clear gold, with a ½ finger of bright-white colored head. This mostly retains with a thin fizziness but this does still stay fairly frothy and leaves back some decent looking spotty foamy lacing. The aroma smells grainy sweet, with a grassy and spicy hop presence to it. This is maybe showing a little citric fruit here as well but the overall nose is coming off as fairly sweet to me.

The taste is sweet toasted grains, with a tingle of earthy hops and some green citrus flavors. The finish on this is bitter, dry, and spicy, and all around a bit dirty feeling but it doesn't impact the profile a whole lot. The mouthfeel is lighter bodied and fairly crisp feeling at first but then thins out some towards the back. Overall not a bad feel here.

Capital kept it simple with this Pale Lager. Well balanced and clean malt and hop flavors combined with an easy going and crisp drinkibility. I ended up enjoying this bottle much more than I thought I would. I need to pick up a case of cans next time I'm in WI. I would keep this one around for sessionability in the summertime.
