Pretty blah and average lager. The head was virtually absent and the color was pretty flat looking. The aroma wasn't too bad with wheat, grass and malt hints. The taste was pretty dry and uneventful with a sugary finish. Not the greatest brew from capital, but then again, not too many lagers blow me away.

A- Wisconsin amber pours a dull amber to dark straw color. A hard pour produced a decent white head that disapeared before before I could say wisconsin.

S- The smell is alright. I pick up on a strong smell of fruits like grapes, some astringincy. There is a faint hint of alcohol, it really remindes me of a wine. The hops are almost non existant in the nose. And the malts aren't too strong either.

T&M- I really didn't care for the taste of this beer. I did not have any flavors that stand out. Nothing really exciting, it remindes me of a killians. There is a little hop bitterness in the back of the tounge. Nothing that really balances this though, not much other flavors. For this style I think that the taste just slightly above average. It is a really refreshing beer. The mouthfeel is ok, the carbonation is done really well I think. But it leaves the mouth too sticky compared to other ambers.

D- The beer is fair it's a good one for a hot summer night. A step up from macros but not my first choice for an amber lager. It's pretty cheap too.

Pours an effervescent amber with 3 fingers of tan head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Bready & some grainyness as this warms.

T: bready, slight caramel & toffee flavors up front, plus a touch of grainyness. Grainyness, cloying sweetness & a touch of dryness are all there as this warms, plus some leafy hops. Finishes grainy with cloying sweetness & a touch herbal hop bitterness

MF: Medium bodied with crisp carbonation, Starts to thin out as this warms, not that great on balance

Drinks fairly easy but lack of character makes this one boring & forgettable

Pours a clear orange with a cap of fizzy off-white fuzz.

Comes in largely toasted with a light amount of fruity and caramelness, a touch musty. Hops are light as well, coming in lightly bitter/earthy.

Not bad, but nothing special. Probably don't need to try this one again.

This brew has a nice light copper color and good off-white head. The aromas are very biscuity and roasty. The predominant flavors are sweet and roasted malt with a stale hop aftertaste. The stale aftertaste overshadows the rest of the brew. Quite disappointing.

Pours amber in color with a good to medium head. Starts with a fruity, spicy flavor. But ends with an acidic burnt feel. At first this change in taste is desirable, but the acidic feel lingers on the back of the tongue and mouth. This lingering results in an overall disappointment in the beer.

Capital Brewery's Wisconsin Amber pours out a big fluffy
head over a clear amber brew. Nose is primarily of malt
and there is little carbonation. Flavor is a bit of malt and a bit
of hop. Their website says this is an amber laager. Now, laagers
aren't really my thing, but this one is quite drinkable and flavorful.
The site doesn't say it, but I would be surprised if this one comes
to more than 4 or 5% alcohol by volume. Really decent!

Pours a four finger white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Almost clear amber color. Light carbonation and light=medium bodied. Hoppy nose. Starts balanced, some sweetness with hops mainly in background, dry finish, tolerable amber. $1.79 for a 12oz bottle from John's Grocery Iowa City, Ia.

Beer poured: into nonic shaped pint glass.

A - Beer pours with a thick white colored head. Beer has a hazy copper colored body. Head does not hold very well, no lacing. No carbonation.

S - Fruity, citrus, straw, crisp clean lager, corn.

T - Sweet, fruity, bitter, clean straw lager taste.

M - Slightly carbonated, mild hop bitter aftertaste.

D - Average amber ale. Traditional crisp later feel and taste. Easy to drink.

Draught in a pint glass

A: nice amber color. Not much of a head but I didn't pour it. From what I do see looks off white and frothy. Some lacing but mt alot

S: I'm getting a lot of crisp malt with a slight copper smell.

T: very drinkable, pretty malty but nothing to insane. All around its an average amber that doesnt stray too far from the flavor point you would expect.

M: nice and crisp. Refreshing, not too carbonated.

O: all around decent beer. True to the style but lacked any distinctive features.

It is a beautiful beer. A nice white head sitting on a clear amber body. Some lacing left behind as it is consumed. The rest of the beer is rather mediocre. Nothing great and nothing bad. The sweet malt profile is evident in the aroma and taste. The sweetness isn't my favorite but it isn't overpowering so it doesn't distract too much from the beer. It also has an almost creamy mouthfeel to it that I found a bit odd. Nicely carbonated and no aftertaste to finish it off.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a Unibroue tulip. Moderate, off-white head, average retention, suddsy lacing. Aroma includes caramel malts, mild brown sugar, maybe a touch of butter (unfortunately). Taste also with a bit of mild sweetness, mainly caramel, very low bitterness. Pretty easy to drink, maybe just a touch of off flavor on the back end but not a bad beer, just not spectacular.

Light, transparent, orange-amber color lager. Soda-like head on the pour with little retention.

Fresh, malty aroma with hints of citrus fruits and fresh cut grass.

Slightly roasted malt flavor. Almonds and toast. Touch of caramel. Rice and corn adjuncts. Mild herbal hop.

Light body. Descent carbonation. Grainy texture.

Ok, but just doesn't have that much flavor or body. Fairly refreshing, however.

Loosely based on a Vienna Lager?

A: Amber with an off-white head; slight retention & lace.

S: Caramel, spice & a little fruitiness.

T: Modest bitterness allows the residual sweetness to come through & I don't particularly like the balance. Plenty of caramel with slight hints of a pleasant hop spicing and an odd fruitiness.

M: Moderate body & carbonation.

D: Very approachable, but not for me.

Pours a clear, bright orange copper. Beautiful when shining a light through it. A large light-yellow head disappears quickly.

Aroma is quite small. I can pick up caramel, wood, and quite a bit of spice.

Flavor is earthy, has a caramel flavor without much of the normal sweetness. Hops add a surprising tart bitterness I wasn't expecting.

Mouthful is quite carbonated. A little heavy which is surprising based on the flavor.

I'm not a big fan of Red Lagers, they seem a bit boring. This one certainly brings something to the table. However, overall I'm still bored.

Pretty good beer. I had this one on new year's eve at Towne Inn in Jefferson, WI. Nice amber color, smelled pretty good. It was an average tasting amber beer. Good taste though, hint of orange peel, wouldn't mind trying it again sometime. It's an easy drinking beer.

I had this on at the wonderful Log Cabin restaurant in Galena, IL.

A - Clear amber-orange with a small white head that leaves a little bit of lace on the glass.

S - Hoppy and tight with a hint of yeast and alcohol. This smells taught and firm.

T - Tastes much like it smells. There is a really nice hop flavor here along with the caramely malts.

M - Medium bodied and highly carbonated, with a hoppy and off-dry finish.

D - Sort of average, but very drinkable. Would be a great beer to have with a burger....which I did.
