12oz bottle.

Poured a medium and lightly cloudy golden color with a very small sized white head. Aromas of floralness with some carmel and citrus.. Tastes of grain, floral with a very light grassy finish. Aromas and tastes on the lighter side. Thin and watery body.

Capital Brewery's 1900 pours one finger of white head over a slightly
cloudy yellow brew. Carbonation is active and steady, and the nose
is malt and yeast. The flavor is sweetish malt up front with a grainy
finish. Mouthfeel is smooth and almost velvety, but cleansing. It has
a very subdued hop presence- just enough to make the brew crisp
and quenching. It's not overly complex, but like Capital's other brews,
it's well balanced and solid. This is just the kind of beer I could drink
all day. It's a pity they stopped making it in '06 so be sure and get
some before it's all gone.

Into a pint glass, pours a light yellow with decent white head and stringy lacing. Aroma is typical lager grainy malt, pretty stock. Taste is rather grainy like the nose, the mouth about average body, maybe a little better, but overall a pretty average beer. Something to glad to have tried, but nothing I'll be grabbing again.

Excellent pour. Dark gold lager jewelry with a very pretty foamy head. Not rocky or soapy, just white and thick and retentive as all get out.

Smells fruity with a pronounced hop that made me think this was a Euro pils. Solid and complex, but still light and refreshing.

Tastes like gentle fruity malts upfront that give way into an uncomplicated, dry hop. It's a nice balance, and the higher quality malts really shine through.

A fine example of its style, which is pretty much par for the course with Capital.

12oz brown bottle

Capital 1900 was a slightly hazy golden color. It had a small off-white head that quickly dissipated to a thin ring. The aroma lightly malty. The taste was mainly malty and a bit sweet, but dries out some in the finish. It was medium bodied with medium to light carbonation. It was a pretty average beer, drinkable, but there are alot of better choices out there. I will not puchase again.

This beer is just one of those mostly-unremarkable ones that I have every so often. It's a pretty gold color, smells like a lager with no hops in the nose. Taste--well, it's better than a macro in this respect...there is much more flavor and more body than most macro lagers. But it's not as remarkable as some of the other micros I've tried. this would bee a great beer to introduce a macro drinker to micros with...just a nice clean beer that's not a style which may offend. I liked it--but not enough to want more.

Appearance: Golden straw color, with a minimal head and no lacing. Good visibility. Low viscosity.

Aroma: A little corn, a lot of yeast and a little metallic hops.

Taste: Straw, corn and a little metallic finish. Sweet but grainy. Very much like a mellow slightly underdeveloped pilsner, and slightly reminiscent of NG Yokel. Very faint, mild sour notes in places, but overall a refreshing beer that manages to draw on some pilsner elements without becoming too sweet.

Mouthfeel: Very smooth, with a light body and low carbonation. Easy on the way down with a slightly bready finish.

Drinkability: Good. An easy drinker, if not the most remarkable of Capital's offering.

(Served in an American pint glass)

A- This beer has a slight hazy yellow body with a big carbonation that supports a thin soapy white head.

S- The light dry malt flavor has a faint sulfuric hop note in the finish.

T- The dry malt is very pale in taste with a faint hint of pot caramel and a slight sweetness. The sulfur note in the finish reminds me of a kolsch flavor with a very light bitterness in the finish.

M- The light mouthfeel has a fizz in the finish that is a bit to much.

D- This beer is light with some nice characteristics and with a little tweaking could be a good solid beer. A little less carbonation and a little more malt depth without the pot caramel flavors.

Light straw color with a little haze and a good white head. Smell and taste are mainly malt, with little to no hops, but also a strange charecter present in both that reminds me of sourdough bread. Mouthfeel is average, bubbly. Drinkability is good. Overall this beer has a unique charecter, but I think I would prefer a pale ale.

This hazy pale straw beer has no head or nose. The taste has herbal hops up front with a sweet bready malt base and a super dry finish. There is a bitter, skunky aftertaste. I suppose its diffferent enough to warrant a taste but I don't really recomend it, nor do I feel that it can be too representative of an antiquated brewing style as the marketing implies. Really it is just kind of a funky tasting macro. Bitterness, aftertaste, and syrupy mouthfeel inhibit drinkability.

My brother-in-law gave me a bottle of this during his visit from Wisconsin.

Appearence: A very light yellow, pale beer. Some head attached but nothing special

Smell: Some malt and a little hoppy smell.

Taste: Malty and refreshing. Pleasent taste. No after taste.

Mouthfeel: A little thin for my taste but on a hot Summer day it could hit the spot.

Drinkability: Not my choice to spend money on but like I said, on a hot Summer day I could do a few of these if my brother-in-law was buying. Better than Bud.

This brew pours a clear dark straw color. The head is a quarter inch in height, but recedes within seconds into thin lacing. The aroma is a bit more than I would expect from this style. There is a fairly strong sweet caramel aroma that is intriguing. The taste is also rather big for an all-malt lager. It is sweet without being sticky. It would be nice to see a little hop profile. The mouthfeel is light bodied with nice carbonation. Overall, this is a decent brew, but nothing I would seek out.

12 ounce bottle. Capital 1900 pours out a dull gold color with a samll head. Leaves some nice lacing on my glass. Sweet, malty aroma, with notes of fruity coconut. Doughy malt flavor. I taste soem coconut, which seems strange, but it gives this beer an interesting flavor. Spicy hop finish. Mouthfeel is medium. Good drinkability. This beer probably won't impress the knurdiest of beer fans, but it has a clean, tasty flavor, and I could drink 3 or 4 of these at a time.

12oz single, from Riley's, served in my capital pint glass picked up from the tour last friday...if you take the tour you know there is a trivia question on the naming of the tanks...frank zappa tunes, duh!

appearance: pours a very pale and watery orange/dull yellow, straw like, with a slight bubbly white head

smell: bready, malty, earthy, musty, midwestern corn...sweet bready malts are matched by a faint earthy hop aroma...good for the style

taste: lots of malt, sweet and bready, corn evident which you come to expect from midwestern lagers, only a slgiht hoppiness, earthy and musty

mouthfeel: thin and light bodied

drinkability: definately could be a session

certainly not my favorite style but that is fairly enjoyable

Crystal clear gold body, with a small white head (actually just wisps of foam). Smell is straight bready malt, not much else, just a plain beer with no gimmicks. Hops are present and moderate. Mouthfeel is creamy and carbonated as it should be. This is very drinkable, however unexciting, lager that is better than most in the category.

12oz screw top bottle, served at home after a long trip from Wisconsin in carry-on luggage.

Color is pale straw, with some orange hints. Head is large bubbles and collapses fast. Aroma is grainy corn. Low bitterness, some grainy character in the flavor. Might be some low sourness, but that is debatable.

Around the tasting table, the comment that came up most is "this is just regular beer." Nothing wrong, but likewise nothing there to make this a beer to seek out either.

12 oz. bottle brought back from a Madison vacation by my good friend (OK, his wife actually brought it back- thanks Laurie!).

Pours a medium golden, clear, with little carbonation or head. Nice but nothing special. Aroma is almost all malt grain. Flavor continues the malt profile, but a slight hoppiness aftertaste comes around. A pretty simple flavored beer, but pleasant and palate pleasing.

Nice and full in the mouth without being heavy. This is a good drinking beer, easy to quickly down it.
