pours semi hazy copper orange with a 1 finger head that faded to a film and left some spotted lacing

smells of light cereal grains and a little apple

taste is rather bland - light grains and apples that were a bit tart

mouthfeel - medium body with low carbonation very smooth and creamy

overall - very let down with this offering from capital since the make some of the best lagers i have had - maybe that is why this beer has been retired

When poured, the head was average size, creamy, frothy with a white head that consisted of fine-small sized bubbles that was mostly diminishing. The body was uncarbonated and cloudy with a golden hue. The nose was malty, fruity, sweet and a hint of citrus. The flavor was sweet and a bit acidic with a slightly tingly smooth mouthfeel. It was light bodied with good lacing.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Liked: Easy drinking beer that goes down smooth, right on target for a bright lager. Has a nice floral aroma that was strong off of the initial pour.

Needs Improvement: Pale looking beer with light fizz on top. Had a pale taste as well, with some notes of corn and very macro-like flavor profile. It wasn't what I had hoped for and a far cry from some of the better ones I've had in this style.

Used to drink this a good amount in Milwaukee, picked up from Koppa's. Appearance, looks copperish. Aroma is kind of a turn off, smells like old beer from a basement party.

Taste, nothing stands out. Hop quality = minimal, malt bill, alright, yeast doesn't seem to bring anything to the table.

Mouthfeel lacks any development or diminishment. Very drinkable, because there's nothing there, its like water.

Poured a clear dark golden color with a foamy white head. Aroma consisted of malt and a slight floral sweetnees. Somewhat thin body. Carbonation lends way to a creamy mouthfeel. Sweet malt middle with a dry lightly hopped finish. Floral hoppiness of the taste really didn't appeal that much to me on this one. Not a bad offering from Capital, but nothing too spectacular either.

12oz bottle.

Poured a medium and slightly hazy golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of graininess, lighter honey, and some breadiness. Tastes of bread, grainy, some honey sweetness, and had a light grassy finish.

Served in a flute. Pours a clear, light amber. Small bright white head, settles to a white ring around the glass. Leaves a nice lacing around the glass. The nose is a balance of yeast, hops and malts. Tastes good and simple. Light to medium mouthfeel.Left my mouth clean. Wouldn't be a bad lawn mower lager.

The beer pured a gold color and formed a nice white foamy head that left some nice lace. An arom of hoops and citrus with a flavor of hops. The finish was pretty light. As helles styles go, I think this one is a bit weak.

Clear golden, decent head

Smells of pilserny hops, with a hint of sauerkraut. Really.

Pilsnery hops the main flavor, with sweet malts, and bread. I get a hint of red delicious apple in there too.

Solid mouthfeel, finishes crisp.

Capital has more interesting brews than this. I guess I don't really get super excited about the style, so I may be biased low. I think this is a solid brew for the style, but it was only so-so for me.

Pours a pale straw with no cloud and an effervescent head.

Aroma is of crystal malt and DMS, slightly corny and very light.

Taste is of crystal malt and slightly corny. Not much for hops and quite macro-ish. Needs more hops and more malt, weak all around.

A good lawnmower beer, but not much else.

I remember picking this one up thinking "Great, another Lager". I was pleasantly surprised that this beer had a nice hops presence and a decent aftertaste. According to the description it is a Helles, which makes more sense. Why not call it a Helles if it tastes like one? Either way, it is a better than average Lager if that is what they are calling it.

Appearance: Pours a clear, orange-yellow body with a scant white head.

Smell: Light aroma with a touch a pale malts and fruit.

Taste: Pale malts with some candy-like sweetness and a brief, fleeting fruitiness. Mild, spicy bitterness. Clean, delicate finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium, prickly carbonation.

Drinkability: A decent albeit a basic lager.

12 ounce bottle. This beer has a clear yellow appearance with a small head. Malty aroma with a bit of corn and lemon. The flavor is nice up front, crisp and malty. Unfortunately, it becomes way too cidery. Gentle hops barely come through. The finish is a little bit spicy. Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. This is not a bad beer, but nothing stands out.

Poured from the bottle a bright crystal clear yellow with a thin white cap of foam.

Aroma of sweet malts, grain, and light floral hops. Sadly, it reminds me of many macros.

Tastes of sweet malts, grain, sugar, and a light bitterness.

Lighter bodied, crisp, and moderately carbonated.

Nothing real memorable here, and overall, an average lager from Capital.

Clear full gold. Very fine sticky bright white head settles to a thin complete cap leaving nice lacing.

Nose is slightly dusty doughy malt. There's a nice herbal hop aroma which subtly supports the malt and adds some complexity. Relatively restrained, but nice.

Medium in the mouth. Smooth, soft, slightly sweet raw doughy malt predominates. Just a hint of hop on the finish. Pleasant, but not complex, or particularly interesting.

Extremely smooth satiny mouthfeel. Very drinkable, and a lovely choice for a summer evening in the biergarten, but really needs more going on to keep me coming back. I prefer other Capital offerings, which are as drinkable, but imminently more interesting.

By the numbers, this brew is just above average. Colour is a very pretty deep golden but the head is light.
Aroma is grainy.
The body is medium and the carbonation is also light.
The taste has a mild hoppiness to start and finishes the same.
Does have a mouthcoating problem that needs to be addressed.

Lightly hazed gold/copper color, with a sizable, yet fast fading head. Malty with light banana and a little citrus. Taste is malt and full, also with hints of citrus, and a smoothed-over banana feel to it. Hops are very subdued, not a whole lot of bitterness going around. This is a good beer, above average, but nothing great.

Pours to a deep golden color with a white heat that diminishes. The aroma is sweet, fruity and grainy. The flavor has a sweet maltiness, and a grainy flavor. It also has a bit of spicy hop flavor. This is a light bodied beer, smooth and easy drinking, with just a slight hop bitterness. Very tasty.

A: 12 Oz Bottle into a pilsner glass creates a beautiful golden straw color with tight white bubbles forming about a one inch head. The head fades quickly to a lacing film. Tiny bubble form continuous effervescence from bottom to top. Really nice to look at, I can’t wait to take a sip!

S: Faint but noticeable maltiness with sweet biscuit notes.

T: Sweet up front sweet cream and biscuit flavors balancing bitter hops finish but not overpowering.

M: Crisp and clean with light carbonation but also has some weight to the point of being chewy. Finishes dry but not too bitter.

D: Over-all this was a very good beer that I found easy to drink as I made my way to a second sample but it is a bit too heavy to session.

Poured into my pint glass the beer is clear golden yellow. About one finger of white head recedes leaving a smattering of soapy lace.

The aroma is malt sweet grains. Earthy black dirt hints as well.

The flavor is mostly sweet grain. Moderate malt with a apple like swet finish. Not real strong in this area.

Medium to light crisp clean body.

Overall a nice representation of the style. Capital does lagers quite well.

A- Pours 1 finger white head, semi soapy, that recedes pretty quickly. The body is clear yellow, with some slight yeast sediment and the slightest chill haze.

S- Very big on sweet caramel and honeyed biscuit notes. Fruitiness is also present.

T- Starts out with a bit of honey, biscuit, graininess, some pretty evident nuttiness and a bit of fruitiness from the hops. The finish has the nuttiness and some hopiness (honestly a goofy combo).

M- Low carbonation is good. Nice and smooth.

D- This is a pretty good MHL but the nuttiness just seems a bit off.

Purchased as part of "build-your-own-six-pack" at local grocer. Small head on basic lager beer yellow. Smell's very generic as well, nothing stands out. Early slurps were boring, but it get's better toward the end. Medium bitterness, fizzier than it appears, it's a fine lager.

Presentation: Another generic Capital Brewery bottle. The oval label for the Bavarian Lager has a dark blue setting this time, containing the themed picture of a domed building which sits affront a 12 fluid ounce long neck brown bottle. As with all the other Capital brews, it has a similar, but smaller scale, neck label with the usual health warning and cash refund bollocks that no-one ever reads. No freshness date, not strength listed either.

Appearance: Classic pale golden Lager body that has a thin yellow lemonade tinge. Fizzy white head at first disappears quickly to nothing but a thin clinging halo. A quick swirl helps the dissolved carbonation replenish the head, as does the top-up. Head lingers nicely second time round. Average conditioning.

Nose: Light in strength, but attractive. Delicate mix of fresh lemons, Munich malts and a floral character. A bit hard to detect at times but nonetheless very nice.

Taste: Spicy Munich Malts, black peppers, fresh sherbet lemons, zesty but weak limes and a fading biscuit feel that has a sweet syrupy dimension at the end. Finishes with an almost dry, Water Biscuit finish, it’s there for sure, but doesn’t taste of anything at first, probably due to the thin body. The ending comes into its own after the swallow, some nice biscuit malts and feint bitterness that is swamped by the sweet malt feel.

Mouthfeel: Light Lager texture at first, but it sadly suffers from a decent performance here. The only part of this brew that lets the rest of the profile down. A smidgeon too thin, sadly.

Drinkability: Don’t bother with a Six-Pack of this! Get a Keg and the Fittings, To Go. This one's a pounder!! It drinks well.

Overall: Not a classic, but a solid Helles that is easily quaffed. If it had a tad more body, this could so much better though. I’d still get a Keg of it for though!!!

A Teutonic Thanks to BigHelles for allowing me to try this one.

This brew pours a nice bright orange color with a fleeting head. The aroma is of sweet malt as if never fermented and in the boil. A light slightly sweet malt flavor ensues with a latent bready character and crisp lager finish. The body is light, but not watery and the mildly hopped finish is clean. This is a beer anyone would enjoy no matter his beer tastes.

My pour initially resulted in a finger's worth of bone-white head, but it quickly reduced to mere wisps. The color was a lightly hazy deep gold. The nose had a definite honey/lager-like smell. The mouthfeel was thin-to-medium with slightly malty lager-like flavor on the tongue. The finish was equally lager-sweet. It was a solid representation of the style, but I just tend to prefer more hops, even in my lagers.
