Light yellow and a little hazy. Big fluffy white head. Hardly any bubbles rising. Almost looks flat except for the head. Hops evident both in the aroma and taste. Medium body and carbonation. Very drinkable beer. I think I'll have another very soon! (249 characters)

Poured from a 12 once bottle into a small pils glass.

Pours a light straw with perfect clarity. Head is minimal and fizzy and recedes to a film. Leaves a thin ring.

Aroma is crystal malt and floral hops. Aroma of noble hops and bright husky grain. Aroma is clean and relatively pronounced.

Flavor is light malt followed by floral hops. Middle hops become fruity and the malt flattens out to a thicker flavor, slightly sweet like honey. Hops are in good balance with the malt and bitter the beer ever so slightly. Finishes dry and slightly bitter.

Mouthfeel is thin and with the aggressive carbonation cuts the grain completely. A slight burn on the tongue as the palate is left dry.

Nice pils, I would say a very competent example. (737 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a clean Pilsner glass.

It poured a crystal clear pale yellow with massive amounts of carbination rising all the way to the top. A thick, clingy white head that is a little larger than one inch crowns it off.

It smells sweet and malty. Strong and rich in aroma.

It tastes slightly tangy. Sweet at first and bitter in the finish. Light bodied and refreshing. It is smooth.

It is a good beer. Very drinkable. I like it. I couldn't detect any hops in the aroma of the beer. However I could taste them in the bitter finish. (563 characters)

Pours a clear, golden color. 3/4 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and slight lacing. Smells of yeast, hops, citrus, and some pale malt. Smells very good for a pilsner. Fits the style of a German Pilsner. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, citrus, pale malt, and hops in the finish. Wow, this is a really refreshing and full bodied pilsner. I like the flavors imparted by the addition of citrus and hops to this pilsner. (482 characters)

Into a narrow stange glass, Capital Pilsner pours a brilliant straw gold, with a billowing sticky mass of foam on top. The head slowly settles to about a fingers width eventually, but not before coating the glass with delicate lacing. Looks great, like a very traditional pils judging by the look of it.

Soft floral and grass notes segue into a sweet doughy biscuit aroma, fresh and clean, some light minerals also.

Lightly malty biscuit flavors, trace hop florals, very low level bitterness in the dry aftertaste. Clean with a soft feel, not especially biting or crisp, but flavorful. Overall it's a winner, worth sessioning at summer bbq's or by the pool. (660 characters)

This beer pours a light golden color with tiny bubbles surfacing as the minimal white head bubbles slowly as it dissipates. Some noble hops on the aroma and very slight malt. I think this is a pretty decent pilsner. It isn't as hopped or bitter as some of the better german style pilsners, but this is good. The bitterness is low to average for the style. The malt body is sufficient. Medium body I would say. This is very drinkable. Maybe not your "model" german pilsner, but good. (490 characters)

Poured from the bottle clear and bright straw color with two fingers of rich white head.

Aroma of sweet malts, floral hops, soap, and strawberries.

A classic pilsner. Clean, with floral hops, juicy sweet grapefruit, grain, and sweet malts. Finishes very clean.

Lighter bodied, crisp and clean, and moderately carbonated.

This pilsner is so drinkable and so enjoyable. Cheers! (379 characters)

A bottle that has been sitting in my cellar for awhile but it's my only one so I'm going to count it.

A-Poured into a pint glass this brew is light golden in color with a slight haze noticed. A thin finger of head quickly recedes to a thin film with some nice lacing on the glass.

S-Pilsener malt with a flowery hop aroma with a hint of fruitiness.

T-Big clean barley malt with a flowery, fruity finish. Low bitterness. Sweeter finish than most.

M-Lower prickly carbonation than most pilseners, which helps give a quick finish with low bitterness.

O-A tasty easy to drink pils. I like the low carbonation which makes for a less crisp, low bitter finish. The little bit of fruitiness although not normal for the style gives a nice edge to this beer. Unfortunately I think this beer had been sitting in my cellar for probably 1.5 years so that may have affected it. However, it doesn't have done so in a bad way with oxidation or DMS enhancement. I'll have to compare with a fresh one to see if indeed this beer has changed much. (1,032 characters)

12 oz bottle poured into a pilsner glass. pours a hazy straw color with a couple giners of white frothy head that stays for the duration. no lacings here.

smells of pale malts, with a touch of hop aroma and a hint of bready yeast aroma. very basic, but very well balanced. a good example of a pilsner.

taste is carbonated, with malts up front, blending into a mild hop flavor to finish. nothing overpowering or suprizing here, just a solid taste that is refreshing and simple.

aftertaste is semi-dry, with hops and yeast sticking around.

mouthfeel is light-bodied, with a silky texture and a mild bite from carbonation.

drinkability is great. this brew is light bodied, and light on the palate, true to the style. good balance and concentration of flavors make this one worth a try at worst. (807 characters)

Appearance: Clear gold, moderate sized head.

Smell: Grassy hops.

Taste: Very nice grassy hop bite, but not too intense. Balanced by a nice breadiness.

Mouthfeel: Just fine for a pils, not too heavy.

Drinkability: I could have several of this in a session.

It's great to find another pilsner with a good hop bite. I will definitely pick this one up again for a good session beer. (393 characters)

Color is classic pilsner - very light yellow with a thin white head about a finger high, leaves some spotty lace. Smell is sweet malt, grains, and a barely there hop presense. Taste is soild, fresh and light of sweet malt. Nicely balanced and great character in its bitterness. Everything lends itself to a smooth easy drinkin pilsner with one super solid texture. Full body thats somewhat rough in its feel, lumped into each swallow. This is one of the better pilsners I've had in quite some time, just needed to be a bit more smoother, it has great balanced taste but is a little to roughly textured for full enjoyment, but is still pretty good. (647 characters)

A golden, transparent brew with a less than substantial head. This one looks like the average lager minus a large, frothy head.

Big noble hop aroma...and I mean big. Very spicy, so American noble hops? Or just a shit load of imported nobles. I'm thinking something like Hallertauer, something spicier than Saaz. Malt is low, which it should be, and the yeast and everything is very clean. Smells better than some imported pilsners. I'm looking at you Kalnapilis.

A sweet, light honey maltiness with super bready hops. Yeast is clean, no DMS or any other off flavors. A little bitterness in the finish, though still quite crisp.

Super crisp with a nice bitter bite in the finish with a satisfying dry pucker at the end. Once again, clean.

A satisfying garten brau. I could drink ALL of these. (796 characters)

The is a heck of a nice pilsner, whether or not that is your thing.
Pours yellow (not really golden..just yellow), with a milky head that does not fade quickly.
Hoppy and grassy with some trace maltiness on the nose.
Goes down nicely with the sharp, herbacious hop snap balanced out with a crackery malt body. Well put together. Very smooth. Very authentic.
Perfect beer for outside on a summer's day. Grab the boat, get the tackle box and go. Supremely drinkable.
Hugely refreshing, but with substance.
A choice pils. (526 characters)

This is some damn good beer. Deep, clear golden with some darker reddish hues. Smell is clean, spicy herbal hoppy, with some sweet fruity characteristics. Clean, dry grainy bready up front with a sharp, perfectly balanced bitterness. Lots of carbonation that helps carry the flavors around. This is a beer that I could easily spend the day with. This blows every yellow import I have had out of the water. Not one single off or unpleasant flavor. Squeaky clean. It would be a very good summer beer. Or winter beer for that matter. It's good. Drink some. (553 characters)

Appearance: Nice golden color with straw notes as it catches the light. Not much visibility, even a little cloudy in places. Broken suds cover, with low/medium viscosity.

Aroma: Light on the nose with yeasts, black pepper and a little cornbread. Nice mealy aroma.

Taste: Sweet refreshing front palate - corn, faint melon and orange, with black pepper and aluminum bursts; mild pine notes and straw in the finish. Wonderful complexity for the style, with great balance.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, sweet, and malty from start to finish. Lighter carbonation and a lighter body render a great pilsner finish. Definitely refreshing.

Drinkability: A great pilsner. I really enjoyed this, and will definitely be adding this to the summer rotation. A wonderful representation of the style with the typical deft but balanced Capital assertiveness. Way to go, Kirby. (860 characters)

Bottle poured into pilsner glass

Clear straw body with fast reducing one finger head

Heavy carbonation

Smell: Wet grain

Taste: cooked veggie, wet grain, lemon, and bitter hop finish

Mouthfeel: oily

This is the best beer from an otherwise boring brewery in my eyes.

I would not by any other sixers from them, but I'd choose the pilsner.

I only need to try Supper Club now.

They really did well! (402 characters)

I love Mad City, WI and I especially enjoy lager-style beers, which is the only thing that Capital produces. I got a tour a few years ago with Ale Street News and my life has not been the same since. I just got back from a wedding, so I brought a few bottles home with me.

The pour produced a finger's worth of bone-white head with decent retention. The color was a light gold with NE-quality clarity. The nose was full of hops, definitely a pilsener, but I would have characterized them as Saaz, not Hallertau. No matter. It smelled dang good! Mouthfeel was on the creamy side, definitely a German Pils. Again, lots of hops making their presence known on the tongue. Finish retained that same bitterness that I experienced throughout. Why, oh why, didn't I buy more of this? On a hazy, humid evening, it was perfect. (818 characters)

HOLY CRAP! This is the best pilsner I've ever had, and I've had quite a few. It pours a nice penny colour and WOW, spicy without spice! The hop usage here is exceptional! Couple that with the malt and WOW-EEEE! This is a BEER, goddamnit!

All must bow down to number one.

I first reviewed this beer when I was new to BA. I had just moved to Indiana from Wisconsin and was looking for a site that would help me find good beers. But I still had a soft-spot for Wisconsin beers. Well, you know what? I still do, and I gotta say my opinion of this beer hasn't changed much. While I appreciate a Jever or a Prima Pils for their knock-you-over-the-head-with-hops approach, there is a great deal to be said for just a nice pils.

It has a good, solid earthy nose, the taste is sweet pilsner malt without the sulfurous twang that sometimes rears its ugly head and a nice dry finish. A very nice mix between earthy German hops and nice German malts.

A touch of sulfur on the nose (but not found in the flavor, happily enough) is the only fault I can find. Man, this is a good beer. Just a straight-forward balanced pils. I love it. (1,226 characters)
