Our spring seasonal is a deep golden lager with a flavorful but smooth presence. When you see our Maibock hit the shelves you know things are about to get better… including the weather!

Capital Maibock: Ah, spring, and these beers really help to welcome in the season. Good looking brassy beer, not a whole lot of head, but what there was clinged. It smelled fine. The taste was very malty and smooth, creamy smooth, easy to sip and enjoy. Technically, this beer was not that sweet, more of a cracker malt, but very enjoyable. I did like this beer, and I do like this style.

Appearance: Pours a clear, deep orange and light brown to bronzed color with a mild white head. SRM of 16. (3.75)

Aroma: Strong aromas of brown bread, honey, baked caramel aromas. Toasted, hints of flower. Sweet and malty. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong and sweet flavors of baked bread, baked caramel and honey. Somewhat toasted with faint flower, but overcome by the bready and malty sweetness. (4.00)

Feel: Heavier-bodied, average to low carbonation. Drinks heavy, smooth, leans sweet. (3.75)

Overall: A decent version of a Maibock here. Pours slightly darker than expected. Aromas were spot on with baked caramel, bread, and honey. Lightly toasted and floral, but not as toasted as a Marzen. Then a smooth and sweet malt body on the finish. Not usually a fan of Maibocks, but this may be one of the best I've had. (Rating: 4.01)

Smelling like raw sourdough with a hint of bitter citrus, the beer poured transparent honey amber in color and quickly dissipating of two-finger head. In the glass, more fermented something... sauerkraut brine?... not necessarily a bad thing, but a little unexpected. When first hitting the tongue, there is a honeyed sweetness and roundness that stays until the swallow (where a little carbonation makes its presence known). That sour briny flavor makes an appearance in between those two endpoints. Again, not unpleasant (I like my gimlets dirty), just not what I was expecting. Once I started eating pizza with this, that middle flavor became barely noticeable. This one has grown on me since the initial sip. I doubt I'll by a 6 -pack of this, but I might enjoy the occasional bottle.

Appearance - The beer poured a golden yellow color with a white head.

Smell - The beer had a grainy nose that brought to mind adjunct lagers.

Taste - The profile was creamy, but dry. There was a big grain profile with light bitterness. While I love Capital bocks, there was not much to this one.

Mouthfeel - Steady carbonation came with a bit of a creamy body.

Overall - There volume needs to be turned up on this one.

Lighter in color than some other Maibocks. A bit more bitter (good if you like that). Poured into glass and head lingered for a while. Very good Maibock.

The beer is 48 degrees and served in a fancy flute. I am looking forward to this Maibock. A hard pour produced a one finger foamy and airy that quickly dissipated. The color of the beer is a medium amber color with a reddish-orange hue. The beer had a carbonation bubble formed on the bottom of the glass. The clarity of the beer is clear.

The aromas in the beer are caramel, biscuit, and toasted malt,

The flavors in the beer are caramel, biscuit, and toasted malt.

The mouthfeel of the beer is smooth and rounded.

The body of the beer is medium, medium-low carbonation, and a medium-low finish.

The beer has a nice flavor with a rounded flavor and depth.

Unknown vintage; drank 4/5/18 @ the Yarchives.

See-through dark orange appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.

A rough pour yielded a nice, noisy white head; frothy lace.

Caramel corn notes in the nose.

Medium thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Caramel corn flavors; this is one-note & cloying.

Not sure if this is how a maibock is supposed to taste; if so, let's discontinue the genre.

Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a lager glass. Clear copper in color, with a dense white head that hangs on for a few moments before settling without a trace. Deep malty aromas and flavors, with caramel, dark bread, honey, tart apple, and grassy and herbal hops. Not too much bitterness. There is some cidery tartness on the aftertaste that lingers for quite a while. Decent mouthfeel, adequate carbonation. This is a solid Maibock that cries out for a big, fat bratwurst with sauerkraut and grainy mustard. It is from Wisconsin, after all. :)

The head, although still thin, is denser and creamier. Most other aspects remain the same, but I still bumped up the overall to 3.75.

-----------------------------------------------------

Fine copper-hued body; thin, bubbly head. Light malt aroma; some herbal notes. Honey-sweet malt flavor; a touch of caramel; estery; little bitterness. Medium body; semi-sweet finish.

An okay maibock, not too bold with the hops. The look and mouthfeel are rather weak yet the taste has a nice cereal grain quality to it.
