On tap at Capital Brewery. Poured into a plastic cup 9/2/2014.

A- Slightly hazy, darker orange body with a one finger white head that disappears quickly. Not much lacing. [3]

S- Sweet candied sugar, noble hops, yeast, a bit of brown sugar and bread. [3]

F- As in the nose, tastes sweet but it is more of a buttery caramel flavour. Really just not my thing. Also some spices, yeast and bread. [2]

M- Medium bodied, but far too sweet for me to drink much of. Good carbonation. [2.5]

O- I don't mind most maibocks, but this one was far too sweet and a bit too buttery for me. [2.5]

Final score: 2.40

Originally reviewed April 9, 2005. On tap at the Gitchee Gumee Brewfest 2005. Alright, another blond, bland Maibock! Not. Geez, I’m getting tired of these things. They have no depth or character. Just sugary, sweet malt with a little bit of hops. This one is especially bland with a light finish of honey. Maybe it was the overwhelming presence of these beers as the Brewfest and this one was later on, but this one is just not interesting, at all.

A dark golden in colour and thick as to visability. The carbonation is very light and the crown is non descript but does have a minor in glass cling, ring and lace.
Aroma is grainy and obvious.
Body is a medium heavy.
The taste is of the malts but has a slight hoppy end.
Nasty little linger here that does not want to let go...which brings the #'s down.....syrupy impressions.

I got dragged to a martini bar that clearly did not give a wit about beer, but they had this on tap. I was underwhelmed by the beer, but that might be because of the place (dirty glass).

It poured a light dull brown in a pub glass with large dirty looking bubbles. Smell was lightly malty. Flavor was a bit of caramel, but generally very mild and bland. Mouthfeel was fine, but I can't say I feel moved to strongly recommend this beer.

This beer pours a bronze-gold color. The head is one inch in height, and recedes slowly into a nice cap of lacing. The aroma is of bready malt, noble hops, and a hint of butter. The taste is clean, and very malty. Lots of bread, hints of toffee, and mild noble hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation that seems a little low for the style. Overall, this is a decent Miabock. I could drink it again, but there are a lot of better examples of the style out there.

A: Amber to light brown in color. Large bubbles in the head and plenty of carbonation.

S: Not much going in the aroma, but plenty of fresh grain smell.

T: Slightly bitter in the nose and malty sweet with a caramel finish.

M: Stays fizzy throughout but the lack of hopping keeps it from lingering.

D: Nice, I do appreciate the refreshing lightness but a bit on the sweet side.

Poured from the bottle to a light yellow with thin white head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Aroma was faint, but what was there was a muted malty fruit overtaken by mild skunk. Mouthfeel thin and non-desctript and the flavor was bland. This all led to a finish that was short and dry.

Not impressed with this one.

Small capped bottle, pours a clear, light golden brew with a white head.
Aroma is just too inconspicuous, some light maltiness and hoppiness, a floral hint, but not much.
Light body, with some sweet maltiness along with a very faint hoppiness, and a bit too much alcohol bite for such a light tasting beer.
Not the best example of Capital Brewery.

This seasonal brew pours with a golden orange color and a foamy head that wisps away rather quickly. The aroma is of sweet bready and caramel malt. The strong sweetness of the flavor from caramel malt is very up-front and joined by a quick moderately bitter hop presence. A little too sweet for my taste, but not too bad.

Pours and looks like a typical beer, not a lot of foam with my slow pour, clear dark amber. Pretty good, but kind of what I expect.

Smells good and bad at the same time. Hoppy and clean with a slight musty smell I'm not liking a whole lot. It's faint, and overall not bad.

Taste matches the smell - malty, hoppy, nice character, but a bit of mustiness.

Mouthfeel is nice and fresh.

Finish is slightly bitter, but there is no ugly aftertaste.

This is not a bad offering, and if you see it available give it a try. It would be easy to drink a few. It isn't worth spending time seeking out, though.

Came out a golden and light copper color, respectable head on it. Grassy aroma.

Taste, not a bad spring beer, had enough punch to it without getting away from style, more caramel in the taste than most, but didn't get too heavy. A little less dry though than hoped for. Couldn't figure where all the apple and carbonation was still coming from. A little bit of spice and honey as well. Seemed more complex than most, but not necessarily better or worse.

12oz. bottle

Clear, light amber liquid. Medium to large, creamy, ivory colored head.

Aroma was pretty mild. What I could pick up was some sweet scents, caramel and floral notes.

Taste was more sweet than bitter, and had an artificial sweetner taste/aftertaste to it. Wasn't wild about that. Other components included tea flavors, some herbal bitterness, and mild alcohol.

Medium bodied. Low to medium carbonation. Very refreshing.

Pretty good. Would make a nice summer beer if that artificial flavor note went away. Unfortunately, as it stands, it doesn't do a lot for me.
