This place just opened a week ago. It is a bar with about 20-25 bar seats and maybe 15 tables. The restaurant is attached to Red Apron Butcher in the Mosaic District of Merrifield, and is run by Neighborhood Restaurant Group.

There are 12 taps, a mix of more standards (Devil's Backbone, Stone) with a couple rarer beers (like Avery Mephistopheles), although I cannot say if this mix will be normal. They also had a large list (I approximated 150, but it could've been more) of bottled beer, again including a bunch of rare and imported beers as well as your more standards. I think they will have a good selection of seasonals available at all times. The beers were a tad on the expensive side, but not outrageously so for the area, and given some of the limited availability of some. If you are going to order a beer, consider thinking ahead, as they do actually chill some (most) of the beer upon order, given their limited refrigerator space. Edit: in the long run, I think this will be Loring to service or quality, but they say they are working on it.

I believe they are set up to have live music while you sit and sip your beer, but we were there for lunch, which was actually the Red Apron menu until 4pm. What we had was quite good, but it was just a couple of sandwiches. Edit: Went there at dinner time, and I am no longer so sure about the music. The dinner menu was small, including charcuterie from the butcher shop, a few small plates and sides, and a couple larger dinners.

The service was hit and miss. We had to wait to order a new beer at times, but were asked how we were fairly often as well. Some other patrons were questioning the service, as well. The place seems to be setting itself up as an evening place that happens to be open for a drink in the daytime. When we walked in, the bartenders were prepping for the evening business, which detracted a bit from the speed of service. The servers were quite friendly and helpful, however.

We will likely head back to this place again mainly for the bottled beer list. I will update the review as I find more information. Rating is based off wonderful selection, moderately expensive pricing, limited food selection (while we were there), and potential speed of service issues.

modern looking space, there is a bar, with some tables along and in the back. some sidewalk seating as well. a dozen beers on draft, then about a 100? bottles/cans available. Beer list organized by style, wide variety of beers but the longest bottle section are the wild/sour beers. Mix of local and national breweries, high quality beers. Only compliant is that the dark lagers I drank were a bit too cold. They have a butcher shop next door, so the food menu highlights red meat. I had a tasty meal of steak frites.

Just visited for brunch on a Saturday. Like others have posted, this place is attached to a bottle shop/butcher. The beer selection is small, but mostly local, and there's some Tilquin on the shelf on that side of the place.

B-side had about a dozen very nice taps and an equal amount of items on the brunch menu. I loved my breakfast burger, paired it with a lager from The Veil. Given the high end location, the prices aren't unreasonable, but it's above normal. I'd still go back again if I lived nearby.

Attached to the Red Apron butcher shop.

V - Clean not that brightly lit. inside could be consider conducive to drinking and beer drinking. Could be crowded if folks are standing around the bar. Similar but much smaller than the Partisan in Washington, DC, which is owned by the same restaurant group and is also attached to a Red Apron. 4

Q - Nice, clean and correct glassware. Beer not served too cold. 4

Sel - The best beer selection in Mosaic. Nothing whale worthy, but a good variety from lagers to stouts, siasons, and not excessively heavy on IPAs. During this visit they had a good on tap selection of Oxbow from ME. 4

SER - Quick and friendly. 4

Service was absolutely terrible. Sat at a table with three friends, the waiter dropped off 3 separate menus, 3 separate times without ever asking if we'd like to place a drink order. 15 minutes later we ordered a drink (12 drafts), and about 5-10 minutes after that we received them. It took us about 45-50 minutes to get our food (small menu) and the place had empty tables. Beer prices are way overpriced. I enjoy the look of the place, albeit it's extremely small. Will not be back, extremely disappointed.
