Served from a 341ml bottle

A: A nice copper-tan color topped with dense looking white head that left thick and inviting looking lacing behind. Retention was great as well.

S: The hops are very present to the smell and give a strong grapefruit scent. Maybe a little bit of citrus too. The malts are faint but still there and caramely aromas are slightly detectable.

T: Once again grape fruits are present in the taste. But there is also a fairly dominant fresh grassy hop flavor that was not made as apparent in the aroma. Citrus highlights are also there. The aftertaste has some slight sweet caramel malts in it but hops are definitely the backbone of this beers flavor.

M: Crisp finish and fairly easy drinking.

O: This was a good beer for the style in my opinion. I've had very few IPA's and honestly never cared for the style to much but this was pretty intriguing. I might buy it again and thought it was pretty good in the end.

Got this at Depanneur Peluso in Montreal. Fantastic store!

From a bottle into a snifter

APPEARANCE: Pours a small, one finger, looser looking, fizzy, off-white head with decent retention. Clear, burnt umber with medium carbonation evident. Head fades to a decent wisp. A splotchy wisp remains until the end and leaves dots of lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Pale malts, floral hop notes and a touch of melon aromas. Light pineapple is there and some soapy notes as well. A touch too mild perhaps, though what's there is alright.

TASTE: Pale malts, light melon flavors and some floral hop bitterness at the swallow. Bold aftertaste of floral hop bitterness, a touch of caramel sweetness and a light soapy quality. The soapiness is not my style, but this is a solid effort.

PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Creamy smooth on the palate, a touch oily as well, goes down smooth and finishes slightly dry. Good feel.

OVERALL: This is a decent IPA, but nothing worth writing home about. Glad to have drunk it and would get it again if I saw it somewhere. Solid offering.

This is a slightly above average English IPA. It pours copper, isn't too bitter and has a crisp taste and light mouthfeel for the style. Nose is peppery and taste is well banned but a bit bland. Not a bad beer but there are better beers out there in this style.

12 oz bottle, brought back from my recent trip to Quebec, in my Pretty Things pint glass.

A- deep reddish amber, no haze, weak head, but persistent, with lacings
S- hops , with a bit of malt
T - oily hops taste out front, nicely bitter. Good malt finish. Classic IPA flavor
M - fizz is in there. thick and sticky enough, while still very drinkable
O - I like this one a lot - best one I had from Quebec on the trip.

I had this one out of a pint glass. It was a darker amber color than I expected it with not too much head. The flavor was very light on citrus and a little more roasty tasting than I'd expected.

Overall this was pretty good even though I'm not a huge fan of IPAs in general. The bitterness was not as much as I was expecting which, for me, was a good thing but if you're an IPA fan who's looking for a tremendous amount of hop flavor you might now find it quite as good as I did.

Poured in a pint glass.

A: Dark amber color with an off-white head of about 2 fingers.

S: Fruity hop mostly, citrus, some biscuit malt. Enjoyable smell really.

T: Citrusy hops and fruit. Malt is present again. It follows the nose well. There is some bitterness in the aftertaste.

M: Medium body. A little dryness in the end, it fits the style nicely.

D: A good English IPA and it’s fairly easy to drink.

Bottle from Broue HAHA.

A - Pours a darkish golden colour. Bright, with carbonation on the lighter end of the medium spectrum. One finger of creamy off white head. Good rings of lacing come out with a half finger of head retention. Nice looking.

S- Piney hops with some caramel and grapefruit. Not bad.

T - More caramel but still very hop forward. Good grapefruit and pine. Not an overly adventurous IPA but heck, it's solid. Seems like much less of an English IPA though, and more American.

M - Good carbonation with a light to medium body and a good bitter finish.

O/D - A solid IPA. Definately not English IMO. Pretty nice with the standard IPA characteristics done well. Very drinkable and woth a shot.

Thanks to Thirstybird for bringing this back from his honeymoon. 341ml bottle served in my Harpoon IPA glass. 0811 notched on the front label of bottle. Pours a translucent amber with a creamy, half inch, off-white head. Nose expresses light, toasted malts and a dull, earthy/citrusy hops profile. Taste is a bit earthy, some citrus peel, a faint metallic quality and a bit of caramel malt comes through. Mouthfeel is light-medium, with a prickly, almost gassy, carbonation and a bit of acidity that lightly stimulates the salivary glands. Overall, not a bad beer, but not really worth seeking out.

Dark amber with off-white head and some lacing. Bready, malty aroma with a very sweet caramelized malt taste and a lingering bitter finish.

None of the west coast "c" hop flavours for which I'd hoped. Although this bottle was purchased in Quebec earlier this month, the date is not on the label and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt in assuming it may be an older bottle. Overall a decent English ale.

Pours an amber-orange colour with thick white head from the pour. Nice lacing on the glass, but the head retention isn't too great as the head dissipates fairly quickly. Smells of herbal, earthy and citrus hops with a big caramel malt backbone. Somewhat bitter, but pretty balanced. Less bitter than I'd expect from an IPA. Low carbonation makes this pretty smooth, though I'd like a bit more carbonation. Ok IPA.
