Collaboration with Grimm Artisanal Ales

Lightning Fields is a sour ale with Buddha's Hand, and dry hopped with Waiti, Wakatu, and Azacca. If you are not familiar with Buddha's Hand, they are like super lemon, big gnarly hand-looking things that are pretty much all zest and pith. We did our thing and spent way too much time zesting each of the little fingers to get as much out of them as we could.

The beer has a long and soft sour character, accentuated by the lemon/citron notes and balanced by the aromatic hops.

Thanks, Trey.

A crystal clear light orange with a dense, white head, this looks great. The nose is pretty spectacular. Reminiscent of Midnight Sun's Pluto and the 3rd batch of Sanctification from Russian River, this beer is all about tropical funk with pineapple, straw, hay and a little mango. Moderately vinous with mildly mineraly white wine and a mild Muscat grape like aroma. A little honey and a moderate citrus note are present, with the citron notes complementing the fruity funk quite wonderfully. Unfortunately, the palate can't quite live up to the nose. Opening with a clean lactic sourness with flavors of honey, pineapple and citrus on a dry, cracker-like palate, this has really nice flavors but doesn't come together. The sourness is really refreshing, with a buttermilk tang and a citrus brightness, but really, the mid-palate is lacking in structure to keep the flavors together. Drying on the finish with a bright fruitiness and a moderate funk, this beer is medium-light in body and moderately carbonated. Adding some of the yeast adds a LOT to the experience, providing a mild chew. Very nice.
