Drinking their beers at the brewery is so good, I'm very happy that they have started bottling their stuff since I'm not in the area to grab a growler.
Drank this one during a very hot and humid day of summer 2010 (my notes says September 1, 2010).
This beer is copper color with some orange in it. Nice head formed up, however it disappear quickly. The aroma is fruity (citrus, mango) with some yeast. It is refreshing in the nose. On the taste, I get some oranges. The finish is all yeast. Slightly bitter but dry finish and refreshing. The taste is actually very good. Highly carbonated which is good during a hot summer day. Dangerous beer since this one drinks like water and it is 8% ABV. The alcohol is present on the back of the mouth.
A very good beer.

Golden amberish cloudy with a thick head. Good carbonation and I must say she looks very sexy.
smell is spicy, yeasty with Banana hints and some butterscotch that tickles in. Sucre candie present.... not sure.
Taste is fruit, with banana touch and clove. Very carbonated with feels a bit out of touch. Herbal finish with a soft feel.
not bad

500ml, bottled Dec 6/2011. Served in a tulip.
A - Beautiful dark wheat gold. Thick creamy head that sticks around, nice lacing.
S - Light funky barn, floral hop, some wheat
T - Rounded wheat, some funk at the end, with hop bitterness. 8% is very well hidden.
M - Effervescent carbonation, maybe a little too much. Medium-thin body, characteristic of the style
O - Pretty good. Would have again, but not my first choice. But very nice for a thirst quencher on a warm day.

Appearance: It has a nice golden color to it. It has a nice thick off-white head that dies down slowly and leaves nice lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of Belgian yeast, nice citrus, lemon, some peppery spices and some bready notes.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has a very nice citrus character to it along with some lemon zest, bready yeast, caramel and peppery spice.
Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.

Pours an somewhat opaque orange yellow, with a small white head. Aroma smells strongly of honey and orange peel. Carbonation is relatively low for a beer of this strength. Attractive appearance.
Taste is surprisingly sweet, with a slight sourness. Flavor is very fruity; I'd guess a LOT of honey was used in the recipe. Relatively limited bitterness from the hops to balance out the sweetish citrus-like zing.
I realize many beer fans believe one merit of saisons is the variety of interpretations that may be found within the style. Personally, dark and malty saisons, and sweetish farmhouse ales are the least enjoyable interpretations of what is my favorite beer style. Graincheuse falls solidly in the latter category. If, like me, you appreciate hoppy, medium gravity saisons, steer clear of this one.

So this is my first "Saison / farmhouse ale." I've seen a couple of Quebec breweries make this style, but not many.
Poured into my giant Tripel Karmeliet tulip. At first view it has amazing carbonation, three fingers of bright white head on a deep Cooper orange body.
Aromas of Sugars, yeast, floral notes, caramel, banana, citrus fruits, some apples.
Lots of Belgian yeast, fruity, big alcohol taste, but not too overpowering. At first it tastes quite a lot like a tripel or any other high alcohol Belgian. But The aftertaste has a certain sourness that's different that I'm used to. As it warms, the fruit comes out more, little to no sweetness whatsoever.
Body is full and slightly creamy from the never ending carbonation.
This one blew me away, will pick it up
again for sure. Apparently it won best seasonal ale at the world beer awards and this doesn't surprise me as it was something special.
