Served on tap at the JAX Seven Bridges location.
Looks inky black in somewhat low light. Small and semi-durable tan head. Almost no lacing.

Medium body with near medium carbonation. A bit of harshness.

Aroma: simple: dark roasted malts.

Flavor: rich but not quite balanced. A bit more burnt and smokey malts than optimal. Lasting, smokey, dark roasted grain aftertaste.

On my first visit to The Seven Bridges Brewery, I tried the Iron Horse Stout at the suggestion of Jeremy, the bartender.

To my surprise, the massively chocolate mousse of a beer came forward with a fresh medium body and the not so subtle aroma of coffee and nuts. It looked very presentable in dark brown suit with subtle lacing descending with every taste. I tried to enjoy it slowly, but it was too good and it reminded me of some of the Founders' line of majestic dark ales.

Very happy with my selection, I inquired if I could buy a growler to go. No? An ale this good had me thinking about watching football in the Fall with friends and sharing this with pizzas....I hope Seven Bridges revises that lost marketing idea because it's a very good selection to fill anyone's pint night after night, either at the bar or at home.

I will be returning for this one often.

On tap at 7 Bridges

A-pours black with a creamy one finger mocha colored head that has good retention. Just a few wisps of lace.

S-big roasty malt, hints of coffee and bakers chocolate, whiffs of earthy hops.

T-really follows the nose with roasty malt, hints of bittersweet chocolate, coffee and earthy hops. Nothing earth shattering here but it is solid.

M- medium body, soft carbonation, creamy.

O-A nice, solid stout but nothing that really rocked my world.

A: very dark, no light getting through. Single finger head. Lots of lace.

S: roasted flavor that lasts throughout the experience.

T: nutty and roasty. Standard stout taste with chocolate notes.

M: full bodied, moderate carbonation and smooth.

Overall: for me this is the best all around brew offered here as one of the full time brews.

One of those looked great and smeeled great, but average but not horrible after.

appearance: deep dark brown, nearly ebony, loaded head and creamy froth. Was beautiful

smell: loaded hops, and chocolate

taste: rich and slight chocolate roasted flavors but had a unpleasant aftertaste

mouthfeel: good carbonation and very tasty

drinkability: Ok. not horrible

from a nitro tap, black, with a full 2 inches of smooth tan head
smell is very weak, kinda pick up a bit of coffee, thats it
taste is better, bit of cocca, bitter chocolate, coffee, some caramel, mouthfell is nitro creamy, smooth as glass, definitly an easy drinking beer, but not really impressive at all.

This was one of two beers I had with my wife and best man when we visited him in Jacksonville. I had to try their GABF-winning brew!

It is super-black with a nice white head. The smell is also very good and full of roasted and caramel notes.

The taste is good and creamy and malty without any dry notes.

Its body is slick and smooth as glass.

Overall this is an excellent stout and I can see how it's won several awards. A definite must-have when at Seven Bridges.

On tap at the Southside location. Deep dark black pour, small tight tan head. Nice roasted coffee bitterness hit your nose, but after some searching. Taste is right in light with a dry stout. Nice bitter roasted coffee tastes, smooth feel and full bodied. Slight hop snap. Very good stout here, and right on for the style. Worth a try.
