The aroma is a bit off but has all the basic elements of a porter, toasted malt, coffee, and chocolate (all be it very weak). The appearance is brown with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma but not yummy. The palate is thin. Overall not one of my favorites.

A - A small, light brown head on a black body with minor highlights. Good retention and very nice lace.
S - Mild coffee with chocolate and some nutty caramel.
T - Chocolate up front that quickly fades to coffee. Some sweet and light caramel in the middle and malt bitterness in the finish.
M - Somewhat thick body, medium carbonation, and a sliightly sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable and a nice porter overall. Nothing earth-shaking, but it is complex enough to satisfy in its role as a session beer.

The beer appeared a deep ruby brown with an off whit head, served in a nice 20 oz mug. The aroma was a mild malty blend of chocolate and roasted and a slight spicey hop aroma. The flavor is clean roasted malt, and not too bitter. The body is much more a brown ale similar to Newcastle, thin and watery, without much aftertaste. This porter would probably please a lot of drinkers and encourage the brown ale drinker to order an occassional porter.
