Drank from a 750 ml growler purchased at Steady Habit Brewing Company, Haddam, CT
Served in a pint glass
Fantastic appearance. A tight, creamy, two-finger tall, bone white crown topped the slightly hazed, golden-amber liquid. The head slowly dropped to a lasting, bubbly cap of froth. Thick, drippy rings of lacing coated the glass and stuck around even after the beer was finished.
The aroma was outstanding. Super hoppy and fruity. Fragrant tropical fruit notes dominated initially. Loads of passionfruit and mango. Really sweet and exotic. There was a subtle, dank, weed-like note. Some citrus as well. Bit of grapefruit. As the beer sat, a slight grape must quality was detectible. Perhaps a touch white wine-like.
The flavor profile was also really hoppy and bright. Fruity with loads of white grapefruit. Quite lemony as well. Fairly tart and a touch acidic. Like with the aroma, white wine came to mind. I am surprised that this beer was not brewed with at least some Nelson Sauvin hops. The beer finished fairly bitter with notes of grapefruit pith. Definitely more raw than the aroma but still rather smooth. As the beer warmed, juicy orange, clementine and tangerine notes came forth. Moderately tangy. Some peach and apricot appeared as well.
The mouthfeel was amazingly soft and creamy. Uber plush. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a fine, subtle effervescence. Light and frothy on the palate.
Geek Nip is an amazingly tasty and immensely drinkable beer that straddles the boundary between Northeast and West Coast-style IPA. I am surprised that this is a single-hopped Citra IPA, as I tasted a wide range of hoppy flavors, many of which are found in other hop varieties. Hands down, this is the best of Steady Habit's beers I have tried thus far.

Big time citrus nose in this one. Sustained white head. Taste is full of citrus notes but not too over the top as some citra-hopped beers can be. Not abrasive. It has a nice soft malty base to it, maybe that's why. My kind of IPA. Mild but lasting bitterness in the end.
Well done.
