Appearance: Pours a golden bronze colour that shows respectable carbonation. A thumb of head and decent retention are positives, but the lack of lace is not.

Smell: Normally, something that smells this hoppy to me would set off some whistles as pine and citrus hops dominate the nose. However there is a solid backdrop of sweet caramel malt in the background which I think is going to serve to limit the bitterness.

Taste: It starts off fairly plain, a touch of malted barely with some light citrus hops. The hops then come forward, but are reigned in by the malt that remains consistent throughout the beer and ends on that note as well. I'm going to go with the cliche and say it's curious, as usually find that malt doesn't pan out that well in most beers.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation is mild and helps out the entire beer, but it seems to know better then to make an aggressive presence. Transitioning is a little bumpy, but the light hop and malt aftertaste that doesn't cling is a bonus.

Drinkability: Yeah, I'd say it's solid as it's light bodied and the lack of hop oil cling makes it a more appealing and interesting drinker. It settles down nicely but I could see losing interest after six or so.

Final Thoughts: The hops seems like the odd man out on this one, which sort of makes you question why they are there in scent but not in taste. Also curious is the malt managing to last as long as it does. All in all a solid summer drinker, and the kind of beer you could use to ween people off of adjunct lager. Thumbs Up

A rather curious beer. It has all the elements of an IPA, but without the bitterness. Pours a light amber with about a thumbs worth of thick head. Smells like an IPA. Big piney aromas, citrus, grassy nose. Some toffee and caramel as well. Tastes like a weaker version of how it smells. And no aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium light and low carbonation. Very drinkable. I could quaff about ten of these.

On tap at the brew pub, July 9, 2013.

Gold colour, clear. White head is quite dense, but not thick, just a rim around the edge. Bit meh, listless.

Quite fruity on the nose. Hop character, but light and thin. Candied orange and pineapple. Quite sweet, a little bit weak. Could use a bigger smell for the type of beer it's professing to be.

Taste is tangy; bit of orange and loads of tangerine. Develops bitterness towards the back which is good, as it was sold as 'without the bitter aftertaste', a claim I'm always sceptical of. Not a lot, more a pale ale palate but quite pleasant and I enjoy it well enough.

A bit foamy, a little sharp on the back from carbonation. Not otherwise bad.

Decent effort at an approachable IPA. I'd market it as a Summer pale instead though, but nice.

Moderate cap on this beer, some lace. Clear gold in colour.

Decent nose of hops over a malt backbone. Grassy, firm, appetizing. Tastes of piney hops, bread, malt, caramel. Orange peel. A solid mouthful, sweet caramel upfront followed by lingering dry bitterness. A tad metallic which was a little off putting. Otherwise a decent enough beer.

355ml bottle poured into tulip 13/6/13

A slight haze a a dark golden body, lots of bubbles feeding a two finger foam that quickly falls to a thick film leaving a thick ring followed by some random patches

S citrus faint pine, hay, soft caramel, tangerine peel, and a little peach and cereal, smells pretty good

T some herbal notes and some lemon rind I didn't smell, other then that mimics the smell but just a little toned down

M light bodied, foams up and flattens out, very fine grit, faint tropical finish

O not a bad session ale, hoppy and I could drink a few without getting board of falling over

I could drink this again but there's no chance I'd buy another mixed 6er to get one of them, put it in a cheaper 6 pack, give me a hot sunny day and we'll talk

355ml bottle, part of Mill Street's Summer Mix Pack.

This beer pours a rather glassy medium golden amber hue, with one finger of bubbly, loosely foamy dirty white head, which leaves some pretty thorough leaching cloud layer lace around the glass as it duly settles.

It smells of prominently sweet biscuit malt, bordering on bakery leftovers territory, middling orange, tangerine, and grapefruit rind, a bit of pine resin, and further grassy, leafy hops. Kind of a mix between IPA and Czech Pils. The taste is quite in line with the aroma - bready, biscuity pale malt, subdued, but still prevalent citrus and pine hop notes, a late-arriving caramel/toffee sweetness, and more floral, grassy, earthy hops.

The bubbles are pretty understated, but supportive enough, the body an adequate medium weight, and more or less smooth. It finishes off-dry, the fruity sweetness overstepping the malt, and the connubial bitterness still making time.

It seems that this particular style has a habit of hosting those beers that may well qualify in other categories - I've certainly tasted many so-called IPAs that this beer could take in a heartbeat. Tasty, fo sho - as well as hoppy, malty, and as stated, ready for its big-boy IPA entrance exams.

Damn this is a great beer, A ISA or India Session Ale that has lots of great hops, great finish with a blonde colour and a low ABV. Spot on for a summer beer and actually more hoppy than I expected. I want this in six packs rather than a lone beer in the mixed pack. Maybe one of their best beers.

12oz Bottle from the Orleans LCBO part of a mixed 6 pack for $13

Appearance - Clear amber colour with an average size fizzy white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there isn't much lacing. The head lasted for 2-3 minutes.

Smell - Hops, malts, caramel

Taste & Mouth - There is a below average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, hops, and bread/grains. There are also some grassy notes, a touch of fruitiness and some caramel. It ends with a malty/caramel slightly bitter aftertaste.

Overall – A decent beer with a fair amount of hops. (more than I'm used to from Mill Street) Tastes like a EIPA or a ESB. Not something I'd go buy an entire 6 pack of, but worth trying once.

look: 3.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Serving Type - 355ml bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance - Pours a crystal clear golden-yellow color with a foamy white head which seems to stick around, eventually leaving behind some heavy lacing.

Smell - Grassy hops, with a bit of pine and citrus. Some light caramel and toffee malts are in there as well. It actually smells an awful lot like an IPA.

Taste - Completely not what I expected from the nose. Not in a bad way though - Still pine and citrus and grass. There are caramel notes towards the finish. The thing that makes this stand out is it's lack of bitterness. Normally I would consider that to be something of shortcoming, but it really works here.

Mouthfeel - Medium body, ow carbonation. This combined with the low bitterness factor makes this brew extremely drinkable, yet there' enough going on to hold intrest.

Overall - 3.5/5 By far their best beer in the summer sampler. The bottle claims it has the aroma of a west-coast IPA without the bitterness - which is exactly what they've done here.
