Notes/Commercial Description:
Our porter is rich and robust, dark brown in colour with a dark roasted coffee nose, imparting an intense coffee flavour with notes of chocolate. Made with beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac's Coffee, this porter offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market.

Pours near black, opaque with some highlights around the edges. The head is large, latte colored, carbonated and recedes quickly to nothing. It does leave some lacing behind though.

The smell is fairly singular.. light coffee.

Taste is good. Coffee like but there is some milk chocolate richness there as well. It suffers a bit from the simplicity noted in the smell.

Mouthfeel is average but drinkability is good. It's simple, but it works. The coffee level is right on for my tastes. Nice work Mill St.

A - black and opaque, 1/4 finger of tan big bubbled head which dissipates pretty fast leaving a good lace

S - medium intensity aromas of coffee and caramel, slightly earthy

T - roasted coffee and dark chocolate flavors start and dominate, sweet toffee, toasted into a sweet and slightly bitter end

M - medium-full bodied, lively carbonation, fairly thick but smooth, it has a refreshing and warm finish

O - The nose was a bit weak on this one but overall this is an easy to drink porter with some solid flavors. This was enjoyable.

Poured from a 341mL bottle into a conical pint glass.

Very dark, as expected from a porter. About a 1-finger head.

Smell is predominantly coffee, as advertised, with some sweet aroma. Taste follows nose with strong coffee flavour, transitioning to a nice bitterness from the beer. Neither smell nor taste are particularly complex, though. Fairly significant carbonation felt.

Overall, a nice but simple beer that I'd be happy to drink again in the future.
