Atmosphere: Well, it's very much a dark wood type of pub. Pretty well packed for an early Friday night. It is indeed a place you can curl up with a pint, or sit around a small table with friends.

Quality: I give good marks for the quality of the beer I had and what I saw available. I do wish that a beer menu was available though, as I pretty much had to look at the taps on the way in to see what to get. The usual suspects were available (Guinness, Harp, Bass, Newcastle, Yuengling, Stella) and there were a few rotating craft on tap, but I didn't see what they were on the way in.

Service: Barring the clear menu of what was on tap, service was fine. Quick and attentive and not stopping by too much. Whiskey menu was well shown though - almost made me wonder if the beer was a side-show to the whiskey, but I saw more beer at the tables than mixed drinks.

Selection: See what I said about quality above - decent selection for the number of taps available. Certainly plenty to choose from.

Food: This was a mixed bag. The Corned Beef and Cabbage that the Mrs. had was quite good, but the traditional Boxty I had was not good. I don't know what it was about it, but it was not good eats.

Value: Beer was very reasonably priced and the meals were not too pricy either.

so, after having lived nearby this place for several years, i have to say that it's a bit overdue in the oregon district for some better recognition. the food is typically great (the pub fries especially), and the atmosphere in the district is bar none. if a bit pricey, the folks more than make up for the visit.

craig.

Great pub with a great atmosphere. INCREDIBLE food - they have some traditional pub grub as well as some other tasty items on the menu. You HAVE to try to potato soup, easily the best potato soup I've ever had!

They have a great outdoor area as well as a very nice indoor bar area. The beer selection could be better, but they have an incredible Irish Whiskey and cigar selection - some pretty rare stuff is available.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere, check it out! GREAT place to have a pint, or a glass of whiskey and a cigar.

Awesome place! Check it out on St. Patty's day for added cool points.

Cool old fashioned Irish pub atmosphere with a few TVs up with sports.

The beer taps are lacking a little with a few craft brews (usually bells or great lakes) but most of the beers are imports (Guinness, Bass, Harp etc).

However, the food is really tasty! Especially the potato soup. If you happen to visit, order the potato soup...it is fantastic! They also have a "monster grilled cheese" which has 5 different kinds of cheese and 3 pieces of bread. Pairing that with the soup is a must.

Overall the place is a little gimmicky with the Irish pub theme but the food is good and the few craft taps are usually pretty solid.

Dayton's take on an Irish pub is surprisingly authentic; the trademark darkly wooded atmosphere and dishes I haven't seen even in areas with high concentration of Irish ex-pats (i.e. San Francisco). Service was efficient and waitress honest about what was good to choose off the menu. The food was tasty; fish & chips not the soggy mess you encounter at many establishments, but crisp and tasty (and only $7.95).
The beer list is a bit limited however; aside from Guinness, Bass, Harps & Smithwick's they did offer Bell's Two-Hearted and the Great Lakes Christmas Ale at the time of my visit. The Bell's was very fresh.
Ample parking, and located in the historic Oregon District near the downtown. Gets packed on the weekends, so try coming at an off-time. Definitely worth a visit.

When I asked a local where to go in Dayton for beer, this is where I was sent. Dublin is a nice homey little Irish pub that was pretty crowded on both Wednesday and Thursday, which is always a good sign. The service was efficient if not overly friendly. The food was the perfect warming pub fare that i needed on a cold rainy Ohio night. The potato soup was exceptionally good. As for beer ... they offer Guinness, Smithwicks, Woodpecker, Stella and a rotating tap that this week offered Great Lakes Dortmunder. They had a few decent bottles, but nothing extraordinary. So if you want a good scene even in the middle of the week, I’d go here. If you want good beer, go to Boston’s (which is away from the center of Dayton).

Great food and atmosphere to say the least. Traditional Irish cuisine loaded with beef, lamb, potatos, and anything Guinness. Their menu claims that they sell more Guinness and Irish whiskey than any other place in Ohio. So, it is definately a good place for a perfect pint as well as live music regularly.
On the downside, things can be a bit pricey, and the beer selection certainly leaves something to be desired for the type of atmosphere they create.
I would recommend paying a visit overall though.

This is a small Irish pub across the street from the Oregon District. It is a small cozy place, complete with a fireplace. It gets pretty crowded in the evenings on weekends, usually due to a live band. There is a cover charge in the evenings to go with the bands. If you are looking to have dinner, or to be able to have a conversation without screaming, go early to avoid the crowd. The beer selection is good, with several Irish beers on tap. Guinness of course, Bass, Harp, O'Hara's etc... The Guinness is the best in the area, as the bartenders have been certified for the Guinness "Perfect Pint". Food is good, especially the traditional foods, such as the Guinness Beef Boxty, Bangers and Champ, Fish and Chips. Cool place to knock down a pint or two!

An interesting spot just outside the Oregon District. Decent beer choices and reasonable service. Usually packed. Watch out for entertainment nights when there's a moderate cover charge. Parking is precious. Better to go to Boston's Bistro for good beer and great service.
