A good amber orange pour with a nice sticky 1/2" head. Spotty lacing adheres to the side of the glass. There's a nice citrusy, spicy, slightly grapefruity hop nose with a sweet caramel as well. Very well rounded and inticing.
Upfront with a nice citric hoppiness along with a strong sweet caramel malt. A good bitterness on the way down that lingers. Quite a tasty IPA here that I enjoyed.
Smooth carbonation and medium bodied...easily drinkable. I could have a few of these no problem. A very nice beer from Lunar Brewing during the Central IL BA Gathering.

(Served in an American pint glass)
A- This beer warm bright copper body with a thin off-white head that is very creamy and clings to the glass after each sip. There is a gentle carbonation of a few bubbles that glide to the surface.
S- The soft smell of pale malt is fresh and increases as the beer warms. This is followed by a fresh green hops smell that turns a nice musty green quality with each sip.
T- There is a faint sweetness of light malt that fades to a nice full flavored dry pale malt taste. There is a faint hint of fresh coriander that twist to a nice note of wintergreen mint hop flavor and then the full juicy green pine hops come through. The bitterness of hops lingers nicely after each sip.
M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a slightly slippery texture.
D- The Columbus hops have some great unique flavors and it is supported by a nice depth in the pale malt flavors. This is not just another IPA and has a great unique flavor.

Tasted on my trip to the Chicago area.
Pours to a hazy orange-copper color and generous head. Aroma suggests dry hopping. According to the brewer, it's brewed with Columbus hops. Compared other commercial brews that contain them, this one is much better. Spicy, hop flavor, bitterness with a nice balance of malt sweetness. Nice medium bodied mouthfeel and pleasing, spicy bitter finish. This beer was low in the piney/citrusy character of most typical American style IPAs. No apparent flaws. A finely crafted beer.

Had this today at Lunar.
Hazy orange body, sticky lacing that coated the sides of the glass. Ample carbonation visible. Citrusy hop aroma that was very appealing. A little fresh cut grass and malt behind that.
Juicy hop flavor, citrus rind, with a dry, earthy aftertaste. Bitterness was moderate, and right on par for an American IPA. Body was also really balanced, allowing for a high level of drinkability.

Acquired from pochman, courtesy of BA Secret Santa 2009 so a big "Thank You" goes out to him. Poured from a 64oz growler into a mug glass.
A: The beer is a light orange-brown color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is of floral hops, caramelized malts and some citrus.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel and citrus, then a strong but not over-powering hops presence comes in quickly. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
D: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, decent kick, very good representation of style, this is a really nice IPA to drink for a whole evening. It didn't take long for me to go through the entire growler.

They were having problems with its pour (a poor pour) during my visit, so I got a glass that was filled, allowed to settle, and then topped off, all of which created an enormous bone-white head. The nose was fragrant with hops. The color was a slightly cloudy medium-amber. The mouthfeel was somewhat thin and it had a decent hop presence on the tongue. The finish was dry and citrusy. It was not a fantastic beer, but it was my pick of the lot.

Served in a shaker pint glass at the brewpub.
The final beer of my first visit to Lunar. Right on. It pours a slightly hazy amber topped by a finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises orange, lemon, grapefruit, caramel, and pine. The taste runs very similarly, though seemingly without the flesh of the orange, the peel being favored instead. The fruit comes through bitterer than expected, nearly pursing my lips at times. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry, sticky finish. Overall, it was hard for me to drink this, with the bitterness a tad overpowering. Beyond that, though, this was a fairly solid IPA.

The beer was served in a standard pint glass. It was very dark bronze with a beige head and nice lacing.
Nice nose of Citrus (Grapefruit) and fresh cut pine (if you have ever cut down a pine tree, you know exactly what this beer smells like).
The taste is bracing and a bit puckering. Nice floral undercurrent, but the main taste is a citrus/pine. A bit of alcohol presence about 2/3rds through the glass.
The beer coats your mouth and is a great follow-up beer to one of their sweeter stouts. My notes also say oily, smooth and bitter. Very nice IPA here.

Basically, your everyday, well brewed, refreshing, clean IPA. It won't knock your socks off with flavor, aroma, body, or gravity; but it can't be criticized much either. The copper-straw color contained a light haze and the head retention was good. Aroma were expectedly hoppy, citrusy, floral, spicy, and a little barley and yeasty-like. Flavors are mildly sweet upfront then overtaken by well-balanced hop flavor and bittering in the throat. Slightly bready and caramelly with pine-ey bittering and flavor. Body is medium and solid. Not as creamy or viscous as I would have liked, nevertheless, true to style. Finish is dry, clean, and refreshing. May I have another?

Poured a light amber with a decent head. I had high hopes for it after reading other reviews, but they were dashed.
Aroma wasn't very impressive. Some malt, some hops, but not the hop bite I like in an IPA.
The taste was awful. Apparently they don't clean their lines on a regular basis, or something got into the batch because I couldn't even finish the glass. Sure, the mouthfeel was ok, but it did nothing to improve the taste.
If I get back to Lunar, I'll aske for a small taste before dropping $4.50 on Moondance.

Growler at DL day 2007.
Pours opaque amber with a big white head and good lacing.
Aroma is standard American IPA, crisp and citric. Tastes like it smells, with substantial grapefruit from flavor-hopping; bitterness is well-balalnced. The body is medium, maybe a little on the light side, but well-balanced and extremely drinkable. Nothing special stands out here, but it's a tasty, well-crafted IPA.
According to Lunar, this has Columbus Hops (which I don't think I've ever had before)-- maybe it's my palate (or my foggy mead-addled DL day memory), but I couldn't really distinguish the flavor or aroma from Cascade.
My first Lunar beer and a solid showing. I'd definitely try this again at the brewpub, maybe even take home a growler of it.

Not usually an IPA fan so keep that in mind as you read this. This beer pours a nice orange color with a decent white head of foam on the surface. The aroma has all of the notes of a hop flower, but the sweet sweet nectar therein. The taste has that fresh hop bitterness with not to strong of a malty undercurrent. The aftertaste aside from the bitterness is buttery. The odd combination of the buttery bitterness was a little on the weird side for me and was the only detraction from what is all around a solid brew.

A glorious pour of statuesque hop loaded bubbly tan head cap and a foggy peach hued pour.
Initial scents of brisk citrus notes that recalled a cherry and lemon. The nose was a treat in and unto itself.
First swigs: Pinch of orange peel and lemon with a dose of woody pine hop character. Solid thick hop heroin for the addict that continued to hold a bitter ground through the offering. Relentess while being gentle with orange peel.
Medium bodied and effervescent carbonation. Hits the drinkable mark quite well.
Last swigs: If I lived near here a growler would follow me home every Friday. Best of show tonight at LUNAR.
Beer is good. Happy hoppy beering.

Pours a dark Jack Daniels amber, no bubblin and just a little head and foam thoughout. Bitter orange with just a touch of dried tobacco nose. The herbal, citric hops mix well with a strong toasted malt backbone. The taste starts with some good bready toasted malts that balance well with a slow building bitterness oforange zest and peppermint resiny palate. Very well balanced IPA that is bitter but still has a tight malt center. Nice and sessionable.

From notes. The beer pours a slightly ambered golden color with a small head that falls to coat the brew. It left really nice lace as I drank the brew. The nose was slightly piney and slightly citrusy with a moderate caramel malt base behind it. Smells very nice. The flavor was sweet caramel immediately wtih a secondary citrus hop and finishing slightly tanniny nd bitterthat lingered very nicely. The feel was moderate with a nice active carbonation. Well rounded, good taste, crisp and highly drinkable. Very nice brew.
