Lunar is a small oasis in an otherwise featureless and rather desolate western suburb of Chicago. The building looks as if it might collapse at any moment and you could be forgiven for thinking it was shut; we did the first time we visited.
It's very much a neighborhood kind of place; you might say working class; and has absolutely no pretensions or frills. Their own beer is good, and it is augmented by an excellent array of guests on tap as well as a copious range of bottles. They are serious about beer, although it seems many of the customers are happy with their Bud Lite. I just don't get it.
Service can be a little iffy if the regulars are in force and you are an outsider. There is no food, but you can bring in from outside I believe. It's great to have it as an option to flogging down to the city.

Atmosphere-a little bit of a dive with some nice, older wood work. A little dead on a Sunday afternoon but a nice quiet place to enjoy a couple.
Quality-beers were solid. We had the IPA, Citra-Hopped Cream Ale and Munich-Style Lager.
Service-it was dead, but the bartender kept our glasses full and allowed us samples of each beer we wanted to try.
Selection-They had about six house beers on tap with a half-dozen or so more guest taps. Bottle/can selection was very good as well. Many new ones to try and old ones to revisit.
Food-They only have a few small bags of chips, etc. Carryout/delivery is welcome from surrounding areas.
Value-House beers were fairly reasonable at 5-6 dollars a pint. Guest beers seemed a little pricey.
Overall-A nice location just off the bike path. We'll be back every 4-6 weeks for a couple quiet beers in a nice setting.
