One of the best things about getting out of Oklahoma for a week is visiting great drinking places in other cities. One such place is Lunar. I visited on 4/21/04. As other reviewers have noted it has the "corner bar" atmosphere, darts, jukebox, Cubs on the tv, etc. There are no yuppity, gratuitous displays of brewing equipment (that speaks nothing of quality). The only indication that they brew there is the faint smell of malt mash in the air, and the crescent moon LUNAR tap handles. Beer quality was all around excellent. These guys know how craft beer should taste. No frills, no prentention or snob appeal, reasonable prices and attention to quality.
They had about 7 or 8 house beers on tap, including an exceptional Columbus-hopped IPA, a Cascade-hopped American Pale Ale, a smooth, session-worthy British Bitter and a nitro-pushed Oatmeal Stout. No house brewed Belgian ales were available that day, as far as I could tell.
They do not sell the "flight of tasters" platter that typical brewpubs do. BUT, they do give you FREE samples on-demand of whatever draft brew you want to try. I purposely limited tasting to a select few styles, rather than bothering the bartender to mooch all 8 beers. I'd gladly pay to get a few ounces of all their house beers to try in one swoop. On the other hand, it is awfully nice of them to offer free swigs.
Have a bite to eat before you go--they are not a restaurant. Frozen pizza was available according to a sign behind the bar. That's not what they are about, so don't hold that against them.
I unconditionally recommend Lunar as a place to have great beer and good conversation.

Atmosphere-a little bit of a dive with some nice, older wood work. A little dead on a Sunday afternoon but a nice quiet place to enjoy a couple.
Quality-beers were solid. We had the IPA, Citra-Hopped Cream Ale and Munich-Style Lager.
Service-it was dead, but the bartender kept our glasses full and allowed us samples of each beer we wanted to try.
Selection-They had about six house beers on tap with a half-dozen or so more guest taps. Bottle/can selection was very good as well. Many new ones to try and old ones to revisit.
Food-They only have a few small bags of chips, etc. Carryout/delivery is welcome from surrounding areas.
Value-House beers were fairly reasonable at 5-6 dollars a pint. Guest beers seemed a little pricey.
Overall-A nice location just off the bike path. We'll be back every 4-6 weeks for a couple quiet beers in a nice setting.

One of my favorite local places to go to. There is no kitchen because that is where they are brewing. Low lit atmosphere is perfect for just going in and having a couple of beers and enjoying them without all the raucous of annoying people talking about nothing. Large choice of craft beers definitely makes it easy for everyone to find something that they will like.
