This might well be the best beer store in the state of Ohio. It's certainly on the short list of bottle shops here.

The location isn't anything special. Older, small retail store, in a decent, but not high end real estate.

So many beers. Locals, imports, belgian, german, danish...

The staff knows their beer. No small thing, and no small task in a place with this much selection.

Selection is awe inspiring.

Great place. (432 characters)

One of my favorite beer stores, period. If I'm anywhere close, I make sure to stop by. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. They have a great selection as well. Don't be fooled by the exterior - every possible space inside is taken up by shelves! (259 characters)

Even though it's a really cramped, cluttered store it's because they have a huge selection of craft, imports & meads available. Stopped in 2x in a week & both times I was approached by different workers asking me if I needed help. They also were fairly upfront & forward with info about what was "behind the counter" if you asked about a similar beer (352 characters)

I was shocked at the huge selection, especially on imports. The place is a tad cramped and has a slight cluttered feel but that's fine with me, it feels as if there's a hidden gem around every turn. I found some beers dating back as far as 4 years and some really old IPAs so they are slacking a bit there, but make up for it with good customer service. Chatted with a clerk for awhile and talked beer and got some suggestions and actually bought a preaged strong ale. Over all it's an awesome store with good employees and beer that's worth a trip to if your anywhere near. (574 characters)

I was recently in Dayton Ohio to attend a conference at Wright Patterson AFB.
Trying to find a decent beer place with Yelp, and this place popped up.

Whoah! This place is incredible. Every kind of beer, from exotic craft beers to imports - I literally spent two hours just walking around and taking it all in. It was like a library of beer, mind blowing!
The prices were reasonable, I bought a mix a six of beers and took them back to my hotel room, it actually made the trip worthwhile!

Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and I have to admit that I look forward to returning to Ohio for future conferences, if for no other reason than to visit this incredible store.

If you're in the dayton ohio area, definitely worth the side trip - you will be amazed. (768 characters)

Love the selection. However on releases the limits are very strict. It's understandable being such a big supplier to the community but it is so well known it is hardly worth waiting in a line for a bomber or 2 - 12 oz. I would rather reach out to other stores that either hold or willing to part with more to make waiting worth my time. However this place has everything you need and more. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. (437 characters)

Drove over from Indiana after reading about this place. Excellent selection of local and out of state craft beer. Huge selection of singles. Wasn't busy when I was there but would be very hard to get around as the aisles were narrow. Staff was friendly. Will definitely make the trip back again! (295 characters)

BPS is the best in the Dayton area.

They've got an extensive craft selection that is constantly rotating.

Many of these are local or Ohio-based beers.

Prices are reasonable with many bottles for $2-3 each allowing you to build your own mix-n-match six pack for only a little more than the cost of a pre made six pack from any other store. (342 characters)

I wish I lived closer to this place so I could make it my regular bottle store. This week's FFF shipment sold out in an hour, and that was with a one-per-customer limit. Broad selection of beer styles that I've seen outdone by only Jungle Jim's, and they have 20 times the space. Picked up one of my all-time favorites, the barrel-aged Scotch De Silly, which they still have a few, and it was less expensive than the last place I found one. Inventory seems to turn pretty well, and they put stuff they want to clear out on sale.

Another great thing about this store (and it's companion homebrew supply store next door, Brewtensils) is that the owner, Mike Schwartz, has been a legend in Dayton's craft beer and homebrewing scene for ages - long before there even was a scene. If anyone appreciates the value of keeping the inventory fresh, it's him.

They have an entire row devoted to single bottles at reasonable prices, although they'll be a bit more than 1/6 of a sixer. Service to locate something was offered without being hovering. My only complaint would be the check-out dude who recommended the local tavern around the corner because they had a great tap selection, and it turned out to be Bell's Two Hearted, a Great Divide winter warmer, and the usual BMC crowd. They did have two of their 12 taps devoted to Yuengling brews, so maybe that was it.

As others have said, if you get anywhere near this store, you really owe it to your craft jones to spend some time checking it out, as well as its homebrew brother next door. (1,536 characters)

Hard to beat BPS anyway you slice it. Great selection and prices are reasonable. If you are within a 100 miles, you gotta stop by BPS and at least admire the selection. I bet you won't leave empty-handed. Parking can be difficult if you feel you gotta park right by the front door but just park in back and exit of the side street - NO problem! (344 characters)

Natalie is amazing. The selection here is off the wall. Aside from the fact that it is small with narrow aisles making it a rather uncomfortable experience to walk through when the store is busy, there is no denying that the store offers an impressive collection. They allow you to purchase numerous craft beers as singles, some selling for as little as $1.80 and with no minimum. They're not well organized, but the selection is incredible. Don't expect someone to walk around and assist with your purchase, but during my outing the lady at the counter was polite and helpful. Overall, a great place to purchase craft beer with reasonable prices. (591 characters)

Don't judge a book by its cover or better yet font judge a liquor/beer store by the people standing outside of it drinking a 40. Very impressed with this one, lots and lots of beer piled into this small building. Found some great beers I was not able to get anywhere else. Lots of bombers and single bottles everywhere. (319 characters)

how can you live in dayton, call yourself a beer geed and NOT call this place your favorite place in town to stock up? if you haven't been here, and you're from the midwest, you owe yourself a trip. drive into town, come here for the afternoon, head to tanks or chappys for dinner, and it's the perfect beer geek trip to dayton.

it's simply the best selection in town!!

Visited Dayton a few weeks ago. The reviews made this place a must stop.
I was able too haul several beers unavalible for distribution in central KY.
The place is easy to get too from the interstate and has a selection worth checking out. I will always stop back anytime I'm in or passing through Dayton, OH

The only caveat is that their coolers were still not working as per some of the other reviews. This wasn't a deal breaker for me since I was traveling, all warm was fine with me. Just an FYI. (500 characters)

Stopped here while on a two week business trip to Dayton/Kettering, OH. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's beer heaven when you walk through the doors. The atmosphere is like a lot of smaller/hidden stores, they are dark and a little musky, just the way I like them. The quality of beers available here was amazing, pretty much anything you could want. It seemed pretty busy, I'm guessing because it was a Friday evening as people were getting off work. That didn't seem to phase the guys working there, because the service was still spot on. I think I got asked a few times if I was good to go, or needed help. The gentleman that helped me seemed very knowledgeable and recommended some beers that I had never tried, and gave me some honest thoughts on the beer that I stopped in for. Based off his opinion, I decided against what I came for, but left with a bunch of awesome brews that I can't get in Kansas. Most everything looked like it was available in singles as well. I couldn't find one of the beers that I was interested in as a single, but the guy said he could split a six for me if needed.

I also needed a glass to drink from, while they had some glasses, he recommended BrewTensils next door for a better selection. Picked up a Stone IRS Glass with the old IRS logo for 7 bucks. Not too bad IMO.

Oh yeah, don't forget to check near the front counter for some of the more limited beers or ask what they have behind the register.

All in all, if you are in the Dayton area, you need to stop into this place. Too bad I can't pack it up and ship it all back to Wichita, KS. (1,614 characters)

This place is fantastic. My only complaint is the atmosphere. It's very cramped, and smells pretty musty. but except for that this store is awesome. You won't find a better selection, of rare and hard to find brews in Dayton. They are pretty well know around here though so when they do get a beer like hopslam, everyone knows they have it and it lasts for a whole 30 minutes, but they're pretty good about reserving for regulars. They have just about every Ohio brew you can think of, including buckeye brewing, maumee, wooden shoe, rivertown, and mt. caramel. Huge selection of six packs, and bombers. Two pretty good sized coolers with a variety of six packs. Unfortuanetly their bomber cooler has been down for about a month now, and doesn't look like they have any intention of fixing it. What I really like though is the homebrew store they have next door. Extremely knowledgeable staff and a huge selection of starter kits, beer ingredient kits, and do it yourself supplys. If you live anywhere near Dayton, and want to homebrew, stop here first. (1,053 characters)

This was our only stop on our way through Dayton, which I've heard referred to as "The Armpit of America."
Luckily, we only saw about 2.5 miles of the city-- the shop isn't too far from the highway.

The selection was incredible. Several different 3F beers and a few bottles of Tilquin were sitting on shelves awaiting out perusal.
There must have been 500 different beers here, from nearly every brewery I could expect. Lots (read; virtually EVERY beer in the store) is broken up and available as singles.

Lots of shelves and coolers are stacked with craft. The selection here rivals anything I've seem at any Binnys.

Just a great shop-- if you are coming by Dayton, this is a must. (689 characters)

This place is awesome, never knew it existed and I lived there for 20 years... I even worked just down the road from there.
In short, the place is extremely reasonably priced, they have a great selection and even have stuff from 1 or 2 years ago that has probably been aged really well. Met the owner while I was there and he was extremely personable and knew a lot about all his products.

If it's available in Ohio, you can probably get it there (though still nothing over 12% as OH is a stupid state). (505 characters)

This treasure of Dayton is in what looks like a dilapidated shopping plaza, but don't be discouraged. You'd never know the treasure inside from the outside apperance. Great supply of everything western Ohio, look for Bell's, Founders, Brew Kettle, Alesmith, Bruery and Troegs to start. The occasional rare release is available, sometimes behind the counter, and often unannounced. Good selection of imports from Europe. Prices are comparable, if not a bit cheaper than other local competitors, like Arrow Wine and Dorothy Lane. (527 characters)

A huge selection of great beers and they don't ever look down on you if you ask questions and are not very knowledgable. There are all the usual selections and more esoteric beers for the adventurous. They make you feel like a regular customer right away. The wine selection is very good as well. They are a true "party supply". Stoping by is a treat and the brew your own store makes a complete adventure in the world of beerdom. This store offers the path from beer newbie to a true afficianado. (497 characters)

Stop #2 on 8/20 Ohio beer run w/ Barfwin.

From the outside, Belmont looks like your standard, unassuming liquor store. It's anything but lacking in selection, though. Some highlights:

-An imports aisle w/ a barleywine selection that blew me away. JW Lees bottles dating back to '99. Thomas Hardy's bottles ranging from '06 - '08. Most standard Trappist and German imports one would hope to find.
-A bomber wall featuring selections from Alesmith, 8+ Jolly Pumkin brands, Bear Republic, Green Flash, Stone, Troegs, Smuttynose, Brooklyn, and others.
-One of the best single 12oz aisles I've seen, including brands from the aforementioned brewers, plus Stoudt's, Weyerbacher, 21st Ammendment, O'Fallon, and many others.
-Extremely helpful staff, who showed us where various brews were, whether or not they had others, and suggested a bottle of Bell's The Oracle, which had just arrived.

This is one of those stores where you'll likely find whatever's available in the state. Don't miss a stop to this place if you're in the Dayton area! (1,036 characters)

I happily make the drive to Belmont from Monroe, Ohio for all my beer needs. Don't be mistaken by it's commonplace appearance, no flash and flare needed all the effort goes into the selection. The down ratings for knowledge and service shock me, as everyone was happy to help me find what I need. What impresses me most is the availability of singles of just about everything they carry.
They have my loyalty, if for nothing else, then making limited releases available to as many people as possible. (500 characters)
