I have to agree with the previous reviews. The beer was exceptional, the food was overrated and overpriced. The beer though, man these guys know how to brew! Their beer menu was fun to read, and I enjoyed looking at the brewery equipment. The atmosphere was OK, although they sure pack the tables in there tight, it was hard to have a conversation with 5 others going all around you. Like a previous post, stop in for the beer, eat if you have to, but at least try the beer!

Cool spot in downtown Anchorage. Went on a Sunday and it was packed to the max. Didn't check out the bar area, grabbed some seats in the eating area so I could grab some food as well. A somewhat limited overall selection of beer to choose from, around 6 or so beers total and I stuck with the IPA and Oatmeal Stout, the 2 beers that were of interest. Both were good. Service was fair at best, but it was ridiculously busy so it wasn't intentional, server just might not have been as well rehearsed as he could have been. Food was good but super pricey. Overall, glad I stopped there and would head back if I every find myself back in Anchorage.

One of our favorite places in Anchorage. Fine food and beer.

If you are looking for gourmet food and some really good brews then you have to stop by Glacier Brewhouse. Their food is fantastic! They feature a wood fired grill where they cook all things from whole chickens on a rotisserie to fresh Alaskan salmon. You will not be disappointed with anything on the menu. The beer is always a safe bet as well. They have a full lineup as well as a seasonal and a rotating cask beer. Their sampler is an amazing deal! Five tasters for around $5!

Please try this place. You will love it!

First stop in Anchorage was at the Glacier brewhouse. I mean, that's just where the bus let us off right? Walked in just after it opened, hoping to catch a little World Cup action. It is a massive space, but low ceilinged, with a view of the brewhouse. The bar is long. Didn't really like the overall layout of the place, I'd prefer higher ceilings for such an open space, it's actually kind've monotonous.
Did like that you can see into the brewhouse and I did very much like the open kitchen. Always nice to see. They were in there prepping up a storm.
We had some nice beers on tap, their IPA on draft and cask that was pretty good, a damn fine Beam Brown ale, and their Porter. Came back another time, had some other stuff that was pretty good too.
Had food both times and both times it was pretty good but not very memorable, and a little bit pricey. But they jam on weeknights so I guess they can charge whatever they want. Overall, a nice place and a cool experience.

In Anchorage on business in January and our hosts made reservations here one night. When reviews say reservations recommended, they mean it--without reservations the wait was an hour on a Thursday. The interior of the space was impressive, the service was friendly. I found the standard beers included in the sampler underwhelming (but safe for patrons new to craft beer), but the seasonals/occasionals that I tried were very nice. The Black Rye Bock was the most interesting offering I tried. The food was OK, but nothing special---neither complemented nor detracted from the beers.

The entry was on 5th Ave., but coming in, I was in a mini-mall with the brewpub to the left and up a short flight of steps. The m.d.s. was to the immediate left with the extensive kitchen beginning to the immediate right. It was a big space with a curved wood roof with exposed slats and beams, like a ship's interior hull or the inside of a barrel. The best orientation point was at the m.d.s., so that the restaurant area was on the left side with a combination of booths and standard tables and chairs. The snaking, dark-marble topped bar was to the extreme right and fronted the brewhouse behind glass, along the right wall. The bar area had a mix of high tables and chairs along with standard tables and chairs, plus a shelf fronted with high chairs in front of the brewhouse windows.

Beers: Amber Ale; Brewhouse Blonde; Imperial Blonde; Hefeweizen; IPA; Oatmeal Stout.

Two cask engines with IPA were the flavor of the day when I visited.

Mom Test: Definitely! This was a Clean, Well-lighted Place for Beer. I was into it, but the average citizen would have easily been able to hang.

I figured this place was going to be good since there was a line forming a half an hour before lunch in the middle of the week.

The place is cavernous with a huge fireplace in the middle of the dining room. Very nice venue.

The beer was only average with only about half a dozen choices.

The food was very good and well prepared.

The service was prompt, though not overly friendly.

By the time went to leave the line to come in was even longer. The place is good, I just didn't think it was that good.
