Funny, I have been to Third Street many times and never once had their standard pale ale. I figured I had to take one home now that it is bottled.

This poured to a deep golden color with minimal head and a few specks of lace. It smells like many british pales to me, which is to say not a favorite smell but may be perfectly to style. Too much grass and bread for my preferences, but not off putting. I find better flavors in the taste, and it has good body too. The bread stays in check and fills out the malt.

Clear, golden body nearing amber. Whispy off-white head provides a tiny cover.

Sweet lemon hops and biscuit malts. Breast and caramelly. Some floral hops as well.

Good base of biscuit malts. Some honey sweetness. The cask really downplays the hops, with subtle lemon and floral flavors.

The cask actually subdues the hops a little too much here. It sows make it a great pale ale for someone who doesn't like hops that much, but I prefer the draft version.

This is a really nice English pale ale, with a definite, and well-rounded English character through and through. It is now sold in bottles.

Amber, it has a medium off-white head soon thinning to a foamy ring and wisps.

Aroma is caremelly bread crust, barley, ripe apples, light woodiness and hint of tea.

Taste is nice caramelised barley, bread crust, ripe apples, a nice yeastiness, woody-earthy-tea hop bitterness with almost a minty-grassy her element as well, balancing the firm sweetness. Not super complex, it nevertheless has some nice complexity, great balance, well-rounded, firm character, nice feel, excellent drinkability, and is definitely quite English in overall character. This is one of Third Street's best, I think. I should note that I had previously inadvertently put a review from some years ago here, but it was supposed to be for a different Third Street beer and I deleted it.

On tap at Healdsburg Bar and Grill in Healdsburg, CA

Arrived a nice copper brown, but no head. Smells of sweet malts, but little else. Taste is an odd bitter flavor, but the malts come through at the end to try and save this one. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall I was not impressed.

Appearance – The mildly orange body supported an awesome, fully retentive monster head.

Smell – The hops are pleasant at the nose, with a slight bias towards citrus. I really couldn’t pick up the grain that I did from the beer out of a straight tap.

Taste – I can get some of the grain now, but it’s very light and delicate. The hops open up a bit more as well, giving this APA a nice balance.

Mouthfeel – This is extremely smooth in the mouth. It’s shy of medium-bodied with some light, fluffy carbonation and a solid but easy bitterness through.

Drinkability – I’m not a huge fan of cask-conditioned hoppy beers, but this was righteous.

Light amber beer was topped by a thick head that left some of the thickest lacing I have seen in my career. Nice nutty aroma, smooth taste with some nutty malt balancing the spicy hops. Very thick creamy mouthfeel, not all like the U.K. cask beers. Still a great beer and drinkability is good. Excellent establishment as they always have two cask offerings
