On-tap at the brewpub, 2/5/10. Served in a Third Street pint glass.

This beer had the misfortune of being consumed not long after I had a pint of Moonlight's superb Death & Taxes.

The appearance was not dissimilar to cola mixed with coffee, then watered down. No head to speak of and poor lacing.

Pale malt and a hint of charcoal in the nose. Smells as watered down as it looks. No off notes per se.

Toasty malt recedes to a faint ill-defined char flavor mid-palate. Hops add some bitterness but no appreciable flavor, and don't integrate well into the profile. Bland and incoherent.

A touch watery and a little too astringent none the less.

Easy to drink, but there isn't much reason to order a second pint. With Death & Taxes readily available less than a block away, I wouldn't order this again...

Poured from a 32oz can ordered directly from the brewpub to a pint glass stolen from Ballast Point

A - Pours a very thin (<0.5 finger) head that quickly dissipates with no lacing. Looked akin to a glass of Pepsi that had been allowed to go flat.

S - Smells mildly of pale and caramel malts with no discernible hop aroma.

T - Dark roasted malt on the front end. A mild bitterness imparted from the hops with no other hop flavor characteristics. Has a vague nutty aftertaste that doesn't last very long.

F - Light-bodied, watered-down flavor with a slightly acidic astringency tingling the side of the tongue.

O - Drinkable, but not exceptional. Would pair it with their in house garlic parmesan fries.
