Dating back to the early 1800s in Cologne, Germany, this Kölsch style ale was brewed to mimic the Pilsner.

The Augusta Blonde was on tap at Square One - ya know, another tasty brew. I'm really digging their brews!

Very deep straw colored brew in the pint shaker, almost lite amber with a white head leaving a sheet of lace. Nice light malty aroma, and the quaff was a study, steady, and drinkable strong grains with a balanced hop finish.

A fine beer, for all beer drinkers to enjoy - my wife really savored this brew.

On tap. Poured a clear, straw-yellow color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of toasted caramel and floral notes. Sweet caramel with a mild bitterness.

Pours a golden color with a minimal white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is sweet malts and citrus. Tastes of citrus, a malty sweetness and a hint of spice. Finishes dry.

Just made it into Washington last night and this was the first draft I got at the landing. Appearance was great and just the perfect hue for the style. Nose had a wonderful aroma but wasn't overpowering. Taste was light and refreshing and fit the style well! Only problem I had was the bar served it in a frozen glass so I had to let it sit which then the head was gone by the time the glass thawed... Not the brewers fault, just an uneducated bar...

Pours a cloudy, golden color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of yeast, slight hops, strong pale malt, slight wheat, hint of earthy malt, and sweet malt. Fits the style of a Kolsch. Mouth feel is smooth and slightly thick with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, wheat, slight citrus, strong pale malt, slight wheat, hint of earthy malt, and slight hops. Overall, a decent Kolsch that tasted especially good on a 90+ degree day.

Clear medium gold. Very fine bright white head sits and stays.

Lovely grainy malt and wheat nose, supported by a well-integrated green grape fruitiness. Nice touch of earthy, spicy hop as well. All put together in a subtle Kolsch-ish package. Great nose.

Medium in the mouth with an excellent grain presence. Subtle, yet complex, hop notes. Just a hint of the fruitiness promised by the nose. Good length and a nice, crisp finish.

Very nice mouthfeel. While its a beer that's easily quaffable in quantity, with, or without food, its subtle complexities are well worth contemplation. Thanks, Mark for the generous trade!

Augusta Blonde Ale is a German style kolsch that is light yellow in color with a smooth clean taste and dry flavor and hop bitterness that is slightly assertive in spite of a very low IBU. Very refreshing on a warm humid Midwestern summer day. This beer was enjoyed at the Great Midwest Beer Fest and was along with the O'Fallon Smoked Porter one of the beers that I really enjoyed. Thanks winomark, I will be looking at the ABC brews more closely this year.
