I've had this beer almost every which way, but out of the tap is always the best, especially if you get it right from the brewery in Bar Harbor.
The appearance is a typical golden/amber color, nothing really outstanding, some head and patchy lacing.
The smell doesn't indicate too much even considering its a fruit beer, only a slight whiff of blueberries, very balanced though, there is a blueberry presence meld with malt and some hop backing.
But the taste is amazing. Unlike most blueberry beers, this beer is more subtle in the taste, it isn't overpowering but mixes just the right amount of sweetness. It's hard to compete with the original blueberry beer in my book.
Can easily get in 12oz bottles in Maine, some 22oz bottles, but try to get it on-tap, highly recommended.

My favorite blueberry ale; one of the most authentic fruit beers to be had. And as with all authentic offerings, the genius is in its simplicity and subtlety: Unlike other fruit beers that rely on artificial flavorings, this one is has only traces of blueberries in its taste and smell - noticeable but not overpowering enough to be fake. It's beer with a hint of blueberry, not the other way around; the kind of ale that even a no-nonsense ale traditionalist would enjoy.
