Notes/Commercial Description:
Akin to a barley wine, we suggest this ale as an after dinner drink.

It has a truly unique & sophisticated flavor due to the use of wildflower honey as the catalyst for the production of alcohol. We simply use pale malt and a very small amount of Target hops in this Belgian style ale. The bulk of the body, color and sweetness come from the 2,000 lbs. of honey we add to the boil.

The Brother is cellared for up to a year before it is bottled, which helps to marry the flavors and create the complex palate in this Bragget.

Pours a honey/amber color with minimal head, a good flow for this beer with a little bit of legs, not much lacing.

Smell is sweet, can easily make out the honey, some other spiciness as well but can't make out exactly what.

Taste has a predominant malty feel with the honey really coming through. Not much hop bitterness to balance out it out, although I was expecting it to be more sweet than it was.

This beer is certainly a sipper as you can easily feel the alcohol taste in your mouth. It's a style that isn't done very often, but I'm glad that Atlantic does it right.

Poured chilled in flared ale glass; this review shared with buzzlitebeer

A: very good carbonation but little head; dark amber color, a bit of orange and dark honey in appearance; lacing ok
S: honey, fruit
T: honey, malt; not complex; some spicing (unidentified); clean finish; quite sweet; very little bitterness--probably not much in the way of hops

An amazing dessert beer

Picked up this bottle at the brewery in the spring. Spent some extra money to get the aged one.

Vintage 2010 bottle poured into a tulip.

A - dark orange, brown, amber colour with just a rim of head.
S - wow, really sweet. Smells a lot more like honey than any honey beer I've had. No alcohol noticeable.
T - just like the smell. Thick sweetness, a lot of it honey, all of which masks the alcohol. This is a lot like a barleywine, except with honey undertones. But the sweetness is well balanced by some bitterness. Lovely.
M - age seemed to smooth this out a lot, though it is still carbonated, but in a good way.
O - this is my first Braggot (not that they're popular). Can't say I've ever tried mead before either. I really enjoyed this. A nice drink to sip on, as it is sweet and high in abv (though neither are overpowering. Worth picking up a bottle - aged, if you can find it.
