Okay, so it's been a little over a year since I first started BA'ing and this store is about a 2-3 minute car ride away from me. It's convenient and the people there know me, always friendly and talkative, good service. It's a sentimental favorite, and I've patronized them as much as possible.

By now I've added a couple more local beer stores to my list, namely Mo's of Fairfield and Amity of New Haven. Each are about a 20+ minute drive in either direction of my location. Both stores, especially Amity, have a much, much better local selection and are more reasonably priced. I'd give the slight edge to Mo's for pricing, in fact.

This one is convenient, and once in a while you might find a gem. The owner loves beer as well, and makes an effort to get new stuff. However, you can tell that this store is struggling to sell their micros/imports.

There's been too many times now that I've come across OLD beer. In an effort to get rid of 1-1.5 year old Paper City goods, they put a 20% discount on it. I don't think a 2005 Springtime lager holds up when it's nearing Fall of the following year. Sixers of 2005 Pennant Ale were being sold, no discount, and their singles section is a joke - a few scattered old bottles, the likes of 1.5 old Victory Moonglow and other old bottles for nearly $11/sixer! Mo's mixed sixers are $8.49, 5-10x the selection, fresh bottles.

Lastly, their prices are marked up a few dollars extra across the board for everything. I understand that they're a small store, but they don't even attempt to be competitive when they have other fantastic beer stores surrounding them 10-15 miles in either direction.

They're hosting a beer dinner next Thursday for $30. If I'm off of work, I'll try to check it out and report back, but if I do go I hope they step their game up a bit.

I don't mean to shy people away from here, but I'm starting to become a little more than just disappointed.
